@ mods: this post is to discuss the monetary impact of the announcement, as this aspect becomes easily overlooked in the original subforum

Nice move ogrr people!

Today the merger of mmoexchange.net (14643 Members) and ogrr.com (3611 Members) into the henceforth address: ogrr.com was announced.
http://www.mmoexchange.net/forums/index.php?topic=60228.0

The mmoe user base will be directly converted to ogrr accounts and is invited to utilize the integrated trading and escrow system of ogrr.com, which uses bitcoin as a standard means of exchange, but they can use any currency they prefer.

After month of stagnation this move by team ogrr (Diablo II and III based) seems to be a smart and hopefully not too costly investment into their future. mmoexchange.net is a place for mainly Rune Scape oriented users to trade items and ingame currency for paypal, USD, Western Union and others. Meanwhile Runescape on ogrr.com, although offered in a subforum, did not get any attention, as most users come here to trade bitcoin for Diablo II and III items/Gold.

Will this be the beginning of many such aquisitions of different MMOG like Eve, WoW and others alike?

What will be the effects on bitcoin acceptance, usage around the web?

Pls discuss!

Comparison:

As you can see from the forum stats, the MMOexchange.net community is nearly as large as the BITCOINTALK.COM community! Maybe 1/3rd smaller. Immagine this huge influx of new bitcoin users. Of course not all will instantly use bitcoin for their transactions, but many will. What does this mean for Bbitcoin price?

From what I read in the announcement thread:
http://www.mmoexchange.net/forums/index.php?topic=60228.0

The user base seems largely supportive of that move.

The combined site be will about 25% the size of bitcointalk.org though slightly more active. I suspect the younger members of the combined community (those in their teens) will lead the way in Bitcoin adoption. Why? Because for many of them it will be the only practical option.

Concerned that blockchain bloat will lead to centralization? Storing less than 4 GB of data once required the budget of a superpower and a warehouse full of punched cards. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/87/IBM_card_storage.NARA.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card

I only hope the ogrr people dont fuck this one up, because if it works this merger can pose a model for countless future MMOG communities to follow!

I must say that the MMOexchange forum looks better than ogrr. I mean, just the look.

the new ogrr will be implementing the mmoexchange look as it says in the announcement. I think the problem with mmoexchange is that they are not developing needed features, while ogrr is active in development.
