I plan on building a good amount of the furniture myself, at least bench seating, the sage and what not.

Have you EVER built furniture? You realize it has to pass inspection, right? Do you know what goes into making furniture? Do you know what the weight rating is for the fiberboard backing? Do you know how to properly attach coverings? Do you know what is the proper filling to use for furniture?

Seriously, you think you can just build a picnic bench?
I've built a deck.  Yeah.

Let's keep this thread on topic, please.
A deck? A DECK? That's like first semester wood shop. Building a deck and building furniture are two totally different things.

Seriously, look in pre-made, pre-owned, or just having a contractor build it for you.
I'm talking about platforms to put cushions over for people to sit.  Not individual handcrafted chairs.  Just about the same as building a deck.

Again, please keep this on topic.

No, Dank, it isn't the same. It really really isn't. Seriously, you need to include the furniture as an expense, because whatever you think you can make with your dad's powertools isn't going to be OSHA or safety compliant.

You know, the more I think about it, the more I'm pretty sure I could sell "Road Warrior B&D Gear! (Blond Fem Not Included)"

Just make sure you check on the required standards before you start building (even decks have to comply with local building codes).  Every regulation - including those which you don't even know exist - you don't comply with is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.

It's really not hard to build a box, but whatever you say.  I don't live with my parents, by the way.

Considering a bench seating is NOT just a box, you really need to look at patterns, and the codes.

You know, faux-rabbit skin and wolf-skin could work on all three lines. I wonder if it would be cheaper to buy it in the US, or buy it in China and pay shipping? Of course, it would be bulk orders, probably in the hundreds of square yards. I'd want to have at least three different suppliers, to make sure that if one runs out of what I need, I have backups. Nothing worse than needing a shipment and finding out that a storm in the Pacific will prevent your stuff from getting there for 6 six weeks.

Bronze chain and studs, maybe Everbryte so that customers don't have to shine it. Although most S&M/B&D people keep their gear in good shape. But ease of cleaning/maintaining is always a good selling point.

It would be cheaper to source the fabric in Asia and have the garments made in Asia by one of the many tailoring services which custom make garments for a song.

It's still going to have to withstand groups of morbidly obese people sitting on it.  Trust me - the most fragile piece of furniture in the room will become a magnet for your 400 pound patrons.  If they so much as get a splinter, they will sue you.

OK, here's a good thing for you to do.

Go to a furniture store, tell them you're starting a business, ask to examine it. You will see that a bench against a wall is NOT just a box.

The load bearing struts have to be able to handle a certain weight. There are regulations regarding the entire bench.

You put up that box and four 300lb hambeasts show up and fall through your box, and they'll OWN your hookah-dream.

Dammit, now I'm sitting here wondering if I'd want to use spandex/lycra based sportsbras to wed the faux-fur to. They'd have to be modified, probably tipless, with chains across, including access for those women who are pierced. Then offer corsets, and use lycra/spandex instead of vinyl to give women a better/more comfortable fit. With chain or lace-string backs.

Dammit. I hate you, repentance.

I looked it up, just out of curiosity, and while I think you may be right, I might want to break into the USALLTHEWAY people and advertise "100% labor made in the USA" and just buy the supplies from China. We've got a local college, and they need money, right? I can just open up a minimum wage+quota sweatshop with benefits (dental/medical) and have them made. Hell, I can get a couple of students to do live modelling, I know a few from college not too long ago that would still be willing to model.

Hell, my buddy who makes porn thinks this is a great idea, and wants to know if I'm interested in having this stuff feature in a couple of porns. Real Sword&Sorcery stuff, to get in on the Red Sonya crossover cash.

That would be chainmail links over skin colored Lycra for the best look, open nipples for piercing and chains.

Hell, my company artist would be willing to do sketches. I can even market it along with the RPG stuff another friend is coming out with. Have him buy some stuff for his cover/interior art modules.

Damn, one half-joking phonecall and the local guy who has 8 regional "adult stores" is willing to carry "Barbarian Princess" and "RoadWarrior" lines.

"The HUMUNGOUS CODPIECE! Overwhelm the wasteland with your impressive package! Easy to disassemble for cleaning, no pinch lining, no animals were harmed! Mask costs extra!"

Dammit, why is this a thing?

Bwahahahaha.  And you haven't even started thinking about the furry market yet...  (Hardcore cosplayers pay thousands of dollars for their fantasy costumes).

There's a market for everything.  Another online contact of mine makes mermaid tails for a living - the high end custom made ones sell for thousands.

So....

The Monster-Ant RoadWarrior Leather Vest, the HUMUNGOUS CODPIECE, Roadwarrior Reeltyre Chaps, Furry Wolfhead with genuine metal teeth and fauxhawk and REELTYRE GIMP MASK.

OH GOD! WHY AM I THINKING ABOUT THIS!

Just think of how this will look on the bottom edge of the faux-rabbit-skin minidress/spankies.

I am so ordering 10 of those for Christmas presents.

How's the spreadsheet coming along, dank?

I've been doing some research on hookah cleaning and it looks like you're going to have to make sure that the ones you purchase can be completely disassembled for cleaning and make sure they have washable hoses.  The cleaning options depend on the material from which the hookah is made.  Thick glass might be your best option as it will allow you to put the base in a dishwasher.  You're going to need hookahs which can be cleaned quickly but thoroughly, and the commercial cleaning products for hookahs can't be used with acrylics.

It also looks like the hoses are going to have a really short lifespan in a commercial setting.

Wouldn't that look good for certain edgings of the Sword & Sorcery line? Or the Bronze Age Domination Line?

I checked out The Road Warrior and I'm pretty sure that the HUMUNGOUS CODPIECE would look good in brass or steel. Reeltyre buttflap would cost extra.

I'm telling you, so many people would love to dress up like that. Make it for up to 6X sizes (Are you big and large, do you wanna get your crush on? The LORD HUMUNGOUS line is just up your alley!"

It might actually be cheaper to just throw away the tips. I was wondering that, earlier.

Brass or steel your customers would just steal them. Small hookahs are gonna walk right out the door. You'll want clear plastic tip that can just be thrown away.

Additionally: I'm wondering if I can hire someone blond and effeminate to model the "Submissive/Pet" lines, and maybe a buff dude with a mohawk.

See, it doesn't matter how many items I produce, if I don't come up with a hook and an advertistement method I'm not going anywhere or making...

wait...

Yes...yes you are.

I hate you so much.

So what do you think, rabbit skin or wolf skin for the edging on LORD HUMUNGOUS CODPIECE, and should it have steel or chrome studs on it?

And probably crotchless skin-coloured Lycra for the spankies for the "Slave Girl/Pet/Barbarian Princess/Wasteland Pet" line.

I actually might have a distributor for the fake tire-tread pieces. I mean, you can't have WASTELAND MASTERY lines without faux-tire-tread.

Hell, for style advice, I should check out some of the old 80's post-apocalyptic movies and Billy Idol videos.

Offer them from Petite to SEX-XLarge sizes.

I mean, come on, who wouldn't want an anthropo fox mask with faux-fox fur and a detachable tire tread gimp mask, complete with "piercings", "tattoos" and "punkadelic fur styls."

You could go really retro and go for the Jane Fonda in Barbarella look.

I have no sense of aesthetics, so you'd be better off consulting dank about chrome vs steel, etc.
