Helping my close friend live a more normal life

I know this probably seems a bit spammy, but it is very important to me.

A very dear friend of mine has been struggling with type 1 diabetes for over 15 years. Over the past year alone, she has suffered through seizures, loss of consciousness, and hospital visits due to severe low blood pressure while sleeping, taking a large emotional toll. As scary as it is for me as a friend, I can't imagine what it must be like for here. She can't go to sleep at night without being afraid of the possibility that she will never wake up.

To help her live a safer, more normal life, she is trying to get a diabetic alert dog, a dog who is specially trained to alert his/her owner of low blood sugar. Unfortunately, the special training required for these dogs means that they are quite expensive, more than she can afford on her own.

I know none of you know her, but if you could spare even a few fractions of a coin to help her achieve her dream of being able to live a safer, more normal life, both she and I would be extremely grateful.

If I may ask, how has fundraising been going? I saw that a few months ago she had raised over 2k: is there a goal that she wants/needs to meet in order to afford training the dog? I have a fraction of a bitcoin on SR and I'd much rather see it put to use then sitting there
