I think guns should be strictly controlled, and civilians should not be allowed to use guns easily, and I think that would not have killed many people.

Civilians should be allowed to own guns for their own self-defense. Else all the criminals will be armed with guns and the civilians won't be able to defend themselves. But at the same time, the government must make sure that criminal minded people and mental patients don't have access to firearms.

Civilians who have guns shouldn't be allowed by anybody. What they should do is blast everybody who tries to take their guns away... mostly government people who try to take their guns away.

For me a gun, use only people in authority , for the self protection with license. You can control a gun if you use it in a proper way. A gun for the the criminals,  for self defense, or the heinous crimes happened.

Would you agree that as time goes on the less jobs there will be in the future?
If yes you agree..Then more madness will come..people loose the plot when there poor..
Think what having no job can do to a person
So believe me all these killings in schools will happen more and more plus shopping malls it will happen in..
plus what your saying is if everyone had a gun on them then they could of shot that person..
well if everyone had a gun on them more deaths would happen..
like this say i pull a gun on you and you pull a gun out and start shooting what if a random person walks past and you shoot him too and kill an innocent person.don.t you care even tho you were protecting yourself because i tried to shoot you first.
Because this happens many many a time innocent by standers getting shot because 2 people had a dispute ..
See the whole point of banning guns is not to protect you alone its to protect the masses..
plus people say you just got to do checks I.E for mental people ..anyone can turn mental..
so how do you check that ..one day i can be making loads of money have a nice house lovely wife
The next day loose my job cannot pay the mortgage my wife leaves me takes my kids with her i turn to drink go down hill..
then think ar well this is a shit life go to a corner shop by a gun walk in a shopping mall shoot loads of people and then kill myself..
so easy done and this has happened many many a time
some people shoot there whole family if they loose there jobs because they cannot stand the kids growing up poor..
There is going to be a lot more poor in the future
So more shootings fact if you make it easy to get guns more of your people will die
Its a lot easier to replace goods not so easy to replace a life.

Guns are made for one purpose, and that purpose is to kill.
I believe that guns are not weapons, they are tools. How they are used is up to the person holding it.
Guns are especially dangerous in the hands of people who don't know how to use them (i.e., kids and teenagers) as well as those who are mentally ill and/or have a temper problem.
Gun control will not stop violence because a violent person doesn’t need a gun to be violent.
After the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, support for gun control increased dramatically.

Generally in America, the support for gun control has outweighed the support for gun rights.
Are gun control laws constitutional?
What would be your ideal set of laws regarding firearms?

I agree with the gun control issue. Because guns are a modern weapon and extremely dangerous. Not everyone wants to use a tight gun control. To avoid the terrorists, the killings and the liberal shootings of some people.

I do not give people guns. Because of the gun it is very dangerous. Guns can hurt you. In the United States there are many cases where guns have killed many people. American students used guns to kill their friends. So I advise people not to use a gun.

It seems to me the ideal solution is to prohibit any sale of weapons. let's dismantle all of them on pieces and build one huge monument dedicated to the peace.

This will only happen in one of two ways:
1. The people who own guns voluntarily give them up;
2. The people who are making the peace by doing this have more and bigger guns so that they can force it... which defeats the whole idea right there.

Violence and fighting have always happened, long before guns were invented.

A 250 pound muscle-man can easily overpower and kill a 90 pound granny. But if Granny has a gun, she has a chance.

Having peace is best. But it will never happen in a big way. This means that having guns is better. Individual gun control is the best idea.

As an American, I sometimes get demoralized at the degree of brainwashing in our public schools, media, etc.  It has a very detrimental impact on the ability of our population to think flexibly and critically.

I do want to thank many/most of the English-as-a-2nd-lang posters here for cheering me up about the sad state of _our_ systems and reminding me that things could be much worse.  OTOH, it also means that we've got a lot further to sink yet which is a bit depressing.

I think the intention of controlling and regulating guns is good initiative. The problem is the market that can not be controlled, always existed and will always exist, there will always be people selling arms and buying them even if there is control.

People are seldom united when there is nothing to unite over. Unity comes from a big threat that threatens them all.

At the time of the formation of the U.S., the bigger threat was England and King George. Even when France united with the new USA to fight her age-old foe, England, she did it because of a common threat. Not because she truly believed in freedom the way it was being set in place in America.

France wasn't really an ally. It was only a temporary thing to put England in its place. In a similar (though smaller) way, the colonies in America were not united. This was proven out in the Civil War.

Regarding world freedom, it is gun freedom in America that is keeping the world free. How? Governments of the world realize how dangerous their people would be if they had guns. So, they don't antagonize their people too hard If they did, their people might go and get guns from America and depose their government. And, actually, this has happened over and over with countries around the world... the people get guns from America and fight their government to get American-type freedom.

The problem in America isn't the guns. The problem is the respect we all have for each other... even if we are of different races. This will change as more and more Muslims come over here and get guns. Why will it change? Because Islam doesn't allow Muslims to respect other people in the ways that other people might respect them and each other.

Protecting gun rights is important because an armed populace is capable of securing its liberties, whereas an unarmed populace ruled by a government with a monopoly on force only has the rights the government lets them have.

This is a good topic. People will have different perspectives on this one. My take is that we try to dispose guns but starting with the suppliers and manufacturers of bullets. Once production of these bullets are stopped, then guns would be useless. Many people die because of gun shots either intentionally, suicides or accidents.

This is the one we needed the most to be discussed for. Gun control, I think is the one that we can debate on. We need to think twice or thrice to know what are will be the pros and cons of it. Understanding what will happen on the next day, if gun control will be implemented. Gun is one of the most dangerous thing that we can buy or we can have.

The most dangerous thing in the world is not gun, but human. The main reason why people has a gun is for protecting his life from other people. That simple. Even a bad people can turn an ordinary thing to be dangerous weapon, right?

Gun control is shooting the bad guy... not your buddy who happens to be standing next to him.

A 250 pound muscleman can easily overpower and kill a 90 pound granny. But if Granny has a gun, she has a chance. A sword won't work for Granny. Nor a spear. Nor karate, except if she is very lucky. Only a gun will give her a chance.

Anybody needs a gun in our society, only policeman must have it. People make our environment more dangerous than ever with guns.

Everybody needs many guns to protect themselves from the police.

Unarmed High School Sports Star Killed by Police as He Backed Out of His Own Driveway

Johnson County, KS — A family grieving and a town left in shock after police responded to a welfare check of a beloved high school student Saturday afternoon—and killed him. Blue Valley Northwest High School junior John Albers was unarmed and backing out of his garage when an Overland Park Police Officer opened fire on him, killing him on the spot.

The incident happened on Saturday but the dispatch recordings were released Monday night which paint a picture of what happened. The most crucial part of the picture, however, is missing, and that is why the officer felt the need to kill the 17-year-old wrestling and track star.

Naturally, the officer is claiming that he feared for his life as the teen backed out of the garage, so he had no other choice but to kill him. Apparently, stepping sideways was not an option.

Police said that "as the responding officers approached the residence to make contact, the garage door opened and a vehicle exited the garage, moving rapidly toward one of the responding officers. The officer discharged his service weapon striking the male driver," the statement said. "The driver died at the scene."

...

Indeed, while many people think police killings are reserved for a certain section of society, as Albers’ case illustrates, it can happen anywhere.
