Not sure what you mean here. If people started buying Bitcoins more then they'd be selling USD (or other currencies) for them. The less people wanted USD the more you'd have to give to get Bitcoin. Getting rid of your USD is something that makes USD less valuable. The same principle holds for other national currencies. But Bitcoin has a long way to go before it would make an impact - heck, they're already devaluing the USD at a far more alarming rate than any Bitcoin effect.

The important thing is that people have an alternative so that as USD become more worthless, and more irrelevant, all of the smart folk are already happily using their Bitcoins instead. And the same goes for any other national, centrally planned currency.

Imagine a future where the greedy rich banksters are left holding bags of currency that most people no longer want to bother with because most regular folk are already fully functional (and internationally) with each other using Bitcoin. Seems far fetched but stranger things have happened.

i only watched half of the first video and started to think.

hmm if we were heading towards another 1920's event then could we soon see this in shop windows

featured at 27:56 in the first video.

where people would also trade bitcoins, vodka, guitars, and favours to each other instead of paper money.

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.

A USD to bitcoin trade requires both USD and bitcoin. While an exchange that requires USD is good for USD, if subsequent transactions are conducted in bitcoin to the exclusion of USD, then USD will be less in demand relative to bitcoin. Keep in mind one bitcoin is now worth more than $12 USD.

we could go to BTC 0.00000001 = $ 1,00 who knows...

in trade yes we need other fiat currency, but some day all you need is BTC  Wink

sooner or later..

+1 Maybe, widespread adoption of B or a successor crypto-currency would accomplish what Ron Paul and such have been trying to do by returning to the Au standard, and the government would be hard-pressed to stop it, the way they can now and did in the 1930's with Au.

However, some here disagree, as we know from that Bitcoin as a Keynesian tool thread, for example.

It will be interesting what Time will tell...

Yes, exactly. As an "American", I am sitting here rubbing my hands together contemplating how much oil Canadians actually have. I think you Canadians are holding back. I'm pretty sure the next war will be closer to home than you Canadians want! I won't rest until I bathe in your oil! My toaster runs on oil!

OK. I'll admit, your post offended me a bit. I am an "American", not by choice, but because I happened to be born where I was born. Let's put down the beer and knock off the stereotypes, eh? For starters, I oppose every and all war. I think oil is a fantastic fuel, but hope technology can provide better. I treat FRNs like toxic waste and trade them away whenever I find any in my possession, and suggest everyone else does the same.

Next time you want to lump a bunch of people together under one description, remember your peace loving, fiat hating friend to the south, OK?

I don't think he's referring to decent people like you. I think your interlocutor is talking about the sociopaths who rule you.

OK, I shall edit my post~, I loved your attitude towards my post, thankyou for you kind and thoughtful comment.

*eats a snowcone* I like stereotypes, they exsist to a point, just like racsism IE something like Asians are average better at math, And that the average black male shlong is bigger than the white mans, Those are good stereotypes and racist things.

"asains are bad drivers, redheads have no souls" Those are horrible
