i dont think that anyone will be able to answer that question, there are so many ppl using btc that there is just a possible chance of someone forgotting the password or anything.
It' is sad that these btc are kind of unrecovarable ;/
Just everyone knows that there is a loss because of the dark Bitcoin Bitcoin accounts and purses, but the number of the rooms themselves will still be unknown.

I would even claim that lost keys will be one of the biggest price drivers for Bitcoin in future. The more users use Bitcoin, the more often Bitcoin will be lost. Even if they lose only a few Satoshi. It adds up with time. Therefore, since the number is limited, the price will continuously increase.

The mysterious ques? but i think that the founder of BITCOIN and the other specialist in bitcoins would also dont know about the
forever lost bitcoins. But hte main thing is that if they people dont know about this how would i tell the lost ones.

since i have to guess so the number which you can not count is the right answer.

60% of bitcoins mined has never moved. If those turn out to be lost keys that would be interesting.

This information will be available to the general public. Loss of keys or access to sensitive personal information purses bitcoin owners.

If it is carried out such a strange policy for many bitcoin they can throw their wallets. The governments of some countries are very clearly makes it clear that cryptocurrency be outlawed.

I guess we cannot guess how many were lost, but I think it is so big to count since the very start of using bitcoin in the world, so no need to count on how many were lost because we cannot do anything with that.

I do not exclude the possibility that he might even become a victim of the situation and lose everything that connects me with bitcoin wallet. Thus it will replenish the number of losses.

It is their because in the beginning when the mining was easy their were lot of miners who mined for fun and just throw their hardware and wallet , thinking of waste of time and now when they are seeing the current situation they are searching it but not able to find it and  who ever gets it if he knows about bitcoin then he will be really happy if not same old fate of that bitcoin will happen of dumped in garbage

I'm kinda new to this but does unrecoverable automatically mean lost? Is this the same when you like burn fiat money and permanently put the bill out of circulation? I was under the impression that it is not since from what I understand the transactions are sorta "remembered" and it's possible to track these non-moving bits and maybe like redistribute them or put them back to circulation in some other manner.

Of course that opens up new problems since that's basically taking money that is not yours.

This idea that fewer coins due to loss or destruction will be helpful to bitcoin by raising the value of bitcoin doesn't make a lot of sense.  To the contrary, it underscores the physical security issues with bitcoin.  If I put my fiat in a bank, I won't lose it because I forgot some ridiculous password.  No, I have an identity and I can use my identity to verify my ownership of the currency and then take actions to always control the currency I placed in a reliable and insured bank.

Now, I'm not saying there aren't benefits to bitcoin.  Bitcoin definitely is valuable in ways that fiat will never touch.  But... there is a huge issue with security and that the various losses have definitely contributed to the slow adoption to the mainstream.

But this idea of "the less the merrier" is only valid if 1) bitcoin continues to successful and 2) People can benefit from actually having at lease "some" bitcoin to actually use.  People who have lost their bitcoin because of the inherent security flaws (yes, forgetting or losing your own password is a security flaw) wouldn't agree with this idea that losing their bitcoin is a 'good' thing.

Yup, we can tell exactly how much btc we lost in our gambling history. And if we have that information we may get back our loss with other work. So it helps people to be aware of their gambling addiction. Even I am also not maintained that list. But I know that I am in loser side.

I doubt that 60% of Bitcoin is lost. There are way too many Bitcoins in circulation for there to only be 40% of the whole amount. I would think that around 20% of Bitcoin is lost. But that is just a guess.

I think we lose about 1 bitcoin a year or even more. Think about it. A lot of people use bitcoin and they put their bitcoins onto an address then they just forget about that small amount and they lose the private key. Multiply this by a million people then we lose that much bitcoins. Even if its a small amount of satoshi, one or even 100 then that a lot.

I think there will be many people who lost their bitcoin but a variety of reasons. for reasons lost because people have taken private key, I think only a few people who have, I've never lost bitcoin for that reason
