http://www.thelaboratory.org : A development site for the Open Source BitWasp Marketplace The purpose of BitWasp Marketplace is to lower the barrier of entry into operating a site similar in nature to the famous Silkroad. BitWasp Marketplace is an open source project available at github.

He's not a developer, but I am! Hostfat has it right, there is nothing wrong with writing marketplace code! Its currently just two of.us working on the programming, things are coming along nicely! Why? There is nothing wrong on developing an empty open source market OK, but if you coin it "Open Scource Marketplace for Drugs, just like Silk Road", you make any future lawyer's job alot easier if anybody would take you to court. Be careful and good luck! |

Thanks, this will help me to make my own anonymous marketplace so I can run away with users coins still in escrow.
Wait! Just trolling! This open source project will make for authorities much harder to fight against black markets. Another unwinnable war for government scumbags!

Be careful and good luck! The OP labeled it that way, not the developer. I took a look on their site, they market it as being Tor friendly but they make it use AJAX which is a no go IMHO. |

The only JavaScript in use is for client side PGP encryption for IM's. We will have it degrade gracefully, so anyone with is disabled will still have their messages encrypted, but have to trust the server not to record the plain text somewhere. No Ajax though! Were accounting for people having it disabled.
Edit: The other developer just updated the template for things. It will eventually be running using bootstrap.js, like twitter. Again it's designed so that there's no problem to use the site with javascript disabled.

For JavaScript to do bad things the server must be malicius. And if server is run by untrustworthy people then JS is probably one of last things to be concerned.

Torbutton takes care of dangerous scripts. It will work only if you are using plain socks5 proxy, eg pointing browser connection to 127.0.0.1:9050 instead of using Torbutton addon or Tor browser. |

Hmmm not sure what that Torbutton or Tor browser are about, I run Tor per se, just plain Tor, and Torchat and my Firefox has some foxyproxy thing it uses to make it use the Tor proxy port.
I don't trust the browser not to leak some info by things like doing DNS lookups so I wouldn't trust the browser for anything I actually need to have secure anyway; Torchat seems a better approach than a browser and if making the borwser actually be secure means installing a whole new/separate browser I might as well install Torchat instead, it seems simpler enough to give me more confidence that it is not full of as yet undiscovered holes caused by some stupid resource-hogging eyecandy or earcandy or mindcandy bell or whistle that adds more vulnerability for the sake of encouraging adoption by idiots...

 Foxyproxy is for switching proxy not making Tor browsing safe. Tor homepage is clear about this. |
