Hello fellow miner,  First off let me say thank you for helping me getting this fixed.

I have gotten a Bitmain s3 Miner

and a antec 500w PSU with 2 PCI-e connectors

First off let me state that im a "new miner" when it comes to Configuring etc..  Im used the usb ones where i just plug it in and use CGminer to detect it and let it run.  im new to the who s3 stuff

The problem i am having is i can connect to the miner to configure it to network settings/pool settings etc. but it wont actualy hash anything  i tried different pools and everything, and just to make sure the pools wernt dead i used my GPU for it and they worked.

at first i thought it was port blocked, so i took the IPV4 IP and throw it into my Asus router and port forward 3335 with that ip = nothing
I did a port range of 3335-4334  same ip = nothing

I tried changing the Ip's still nothing, I tried Using DHCP but when i do i lose all contact with the miner.

I have tried having the miner connected directly to the computer= nothing/ and even to the router=nothing

Trying the miner like stated below leaves me with both ethernet lights on *only the green one flashes every so often orange one stays steady* and the red light steady on no green light below it*
The psu connectors are layout as this

F=front of miner
B=back of miner
x= PCI-e plugged in
o= nothing plugged in

   x   x
f          b  = red light on but no green light/ Green ethernet light flash's orange stays steady
   o   o

   x  o
F         b   = Red and green light steady on/ Both ethernet lights on only green flashs every so often
   x  o

   o  o
F        b  = rear fan turning at 2500RPM+ *really loud* with only red light on and Ethernet light on
   x  x

   o  x
F       B = same as 2nd shown.
   o  x

So i am wondering do i have something not configured right? or is this just a bad miner?  No temps are showing no fan speeds are showing no Chip status is shown

Have you signed up for a pool?  Tell us which pool and we can try to help put proper settings in it.   I like antpool personally but again that's personal preference.

The 6pin PCIe port used to power each blade (front or back) does not matter, but you need both blades to be powered.

When you say you could access the GUI, was it through the network? It needs to be plugged into your router and network in order to hash, it doesn't access the internet through your computer like a USB miner.

It is best to peg a static IP instead of DHCP, because there is no display to show the IP address assigned if on DHCP.

When you have it plugged into your network, and access the GUI through the network on your computer, does it shows the pools as "active" in the Miner Status tab?

Also check that the ribbon cable between each blade and the controller is seated properly, and didn't come loose during shipping.

Being able to access is good, 500w chances are is ok I'm guessing it has 2 separate pci-e cords one for each blade.

It sounds like he can access it but it's not hasing.  I think there is a good chance it's going to be pool configuration.

<400W at the wall, and it's generally not profitable to overclock them -and even if so, it's still far from unsafe for 2 proper PCIe cables- so IMO the 4 PCIe cables aren't necessary.

I agree w/ point #2, which is why I was asking him if the pool status is showing as "alive".

I have signed up on the eobot cloud mining services,  I have also tried it on a few other pools on a few friends that have they miners working on

Are you in us?  I'm going to assume yes but if not this needs a little tweaking for possibly different server.

Instead of eobot lets go over to a real pool.  I suggest trying antpool, sign up here - https://www.antpool.com/home.htm

You will need the worker name. I blacked mine out but it will be workername.something.  For example if worker name is cody, then a example is cody.s3 .

Below is one of my configs to show a working one.

If you have trouble just let me know with what part.

Antpool is very easy to use/understand.  It will have speed graph of speed and at top 10min, 30min, 1 hour, and 1 day speeds.  And balance at top.  All very quick to get info.

Also you can use PPLNS - 0% or PPS - 2.5% .  Hard to beat a pool with both and it's a option not to mention the percents are nice.

Happy Mining!
