Wanna make a quick million?  Here's how:

Greece is going to be VERY Euro hungry for the next 3 months.  Fly to Athens with a big bag of cash.  All Greek people having relatives in foreign lands (with bank accounts) can send you bitcoin.  You pay their relatives in Euros.  This remittance operation would be insanely busy in about 5 days.  You'd need a courier and body guard each day flying in with new cash.

Instant millionaire.

if you can get a good discount it can be worth it, otherwise it would be like buying them from any exchange

also flying with a big bag of cash, is a bit inconvenient, due to thieves, better to send it via something else

'take advantage'?  I am trying to help the people.  Thieves are no problem when you travel with a great bodyguard.

there is a lot of plot holes in your theory.
first off, you can not fly with a bag full of cash out of the country. as far as i know, airport security all over the world will bust you if you have more that an specific amount of cash with you, and want to exit the country with it.
then there is the security issue , with a lot of thieves out there bodyguards are not enough, besides you have to pay them a fortune to guard you.

Let me help - you know nothing.

You are allowed to fly with a GIANT bag of cash.  As long as you declare it, it isn't illegal to carry cash.  It is illegal to take UNDECLARED cash.

Even ignoring BTC people could have made a lot of money if Greece went back to the Drachma. Get over there & buy up holiday homes. Surely they'd be worth at least 40% less. Then rent them out to people as holiday homes at extortionate BTC or euro/gbp fees via a travel agency. Greece is still a great holiday destination Grin. It all looks like a moot point any way as I'm certain Greece are going to bend over & take whatever last minute bail out deal they're offered to stay with the euro.

That's not so easy. I'm not sure about Greece, but in most of the EU, there's a limit to how much cash you can carry around. I think it's €10,000 and anything above must be declared. Forms to fill, and questions to answer... Also I'm not so sure most Greeks have relatives abroad who could easily send you BTC.

I used to be a citizen and a taxpayer. Those days are long gone.

How about this; why don't their "relatives" (or whoever you had in mind) send them bitcoins, and the merchants that don't have traffic actually set up bitcoin payments?
Why would you solve this going against what bitcoin is created for ?

They (and everyone else) have the option to avoid and bypass bank, but they choose not to; their loss .

Anyways your idea wouldn't work since you would end up with charges for operating illegal exchange of money, since you would be doing exactly that - converting btc > fiat w/o a licence,
and you would be doing it internationally, to make your case even worse.

cheers

Give me a reason why the bodyguard shouldn't just grab your money and run off with it rather than waiting for you to pay them? You will need a lot of money to turn a profit and with that amount of stash you are carrying, a bodyguard wouldn't risk life and limbs to protect for small amount of bounty. And also if you often travel you will notice that regardless which country that you go to, there's a limit on how much money you can bring in or take out. Part of a money laundering policy. If you have considered all that....

indeed i doubt you can just walk away like nothing with millions of money
you need to transfer that amount to someone else in greece that is not affected by the crisis
maybe a rich guy, with him you can do 50/50 on the total revenue, if this thing succeed
also you need to cover your traces on all your bitcoin, otherwise they might tax you twice

A very nice idea, but I would like to finger your imagination by letting you know that every country has a limited amount of money which is allowed for the tourists to bring into the country in hard cash. They would not let you past the airport, ask you a lot of legal questions, even pin down shit on you and send your ass to jail. I would rather sit at my home and plot ideas than fly on an airplane with a body guard and a bag of money just to get my ass to jail.

Although you have a highly vivid imagination ,it is very impractical and futile. Also it is not a foolproof plan. There is a lot of infirmity and it may lead to failure. Also , the availability of   all the  things you need for this scam is very  inferior.

Basically this.
If you want to be a millionaire coming from being low to middle class like most people, your plan doesn't work. This risk would only be worth it for the already relatively wealthy.

People already do it, but this is higher people with higher networth that pulls it off.

Like did you know apple has a hedgefund? and they actually own a lot of the stufff globally, not that anyone cares. But to take away from what I have to say people use companies to backline from the tracing to something called a double irish sanwich which covers the company tracks.

I think that if there is a will, there is a way. Maybe if he has the money, he can get his own personal jet to fly. He can then hire 3 trusted people to distribute money with him on the down low. Having body guards is a nice idea but I am not that kind of a guy who will trust any body guard, I would rather ask my homies to take a part in this operation. We target one city per day and keep travelling in our own car and deal from inside the vehicle itself.
