Bitcoin has become an obsession for many people. Whether its investing, selling, gambling, or making purchases with it, Bitcoin has certainly become this trend that is much larger than it was years ago. Personally, Bitcoin has been a rollercoaster for me. There are times where I am up 9k in profit, only to be scammed by a professional for 6k. In other words, sometimes I am on top of the world thinking Bitcoin is going to make me an insane amount of profit, only to be let down feeling like I am going to lose every single dime I have because I am putting way too much hope in Bitcoin. At this very moment, I am in the process of disbanding my business accounts, and filing a certificate of disclosure. This isn't to say I have lost hope in Bitcoin, I just simply think there are too many faults that still exist with it. Even with a professionally typed paid FinCEN policy reviewed by 3 companies, scammers have still found a way to literally go above and beyond to steal money. I was involved with trading and selling, and its just got to a point where the risks were not worth the reward. I hope many of you have had more success than I! I've tried out some small gambling techniques as well, and of course that was a major failure. BTCJAM was great until multiple users defaulted on their loans. Then I tried one of the most recommended cloud mining services only to find out it was a ponzi scam and lost out on more coin from them. My last resort was to add a bitcoin faucet to my website, but there are just far too many to compete with, and the advertisement costs to draw attention were just to much for it to be worth it. I could have had the opportunity to retrieve about $2,000 from some scammers, but for me to hire a lawyer, travel to another state for a court date, it becomes too expensive and not worth it in some cases where you are scammed.

My best advice for anyone seriously getting involved with Bitcoin is the key word "money management". You might get to a point where your operation with whatever it is could be rolling in some serious money. Don't get greedy! Thats what I did. Never put in more money that your comfortable losing. If you are happy to invest $1,000 knowing it could be gone, then set that limit until you are comfortable risking a little more. For me personally, I was rewarded very fast with Bitcoin in the beginning. Then I started to purchase more, do bigger volumes of trades, and then boom, you wake up one day and your profits and bitcoin is gone from a hacker/scammer. Every person is different, every one also takes different risks and assessments when it comes to Bitcoin. All in all, has bitcoin ruined your life, or has it made your life better?

I used MtGox but withdrew my funds months before the site started to experience problems.  Stayed away from obvious scams like PireateAt40.  Was a lucky BFL customer and got to use some Jalapenos before they became worthless.  Lost a bit in gambling.  Made some money investing at Just-Dice.  Sold out some coins far too early, sold some right at $1000 peak. 

I'm reluctant to trust any business with my bitcoins simply because it appears far too easy for them to say 'oops, hax, LOL!' and disappear with the funds.

of course it helped me a lot, and not only economically, but it helped me to learn, how corrupt is the whole fiat system, and how it should be removed altogether and replaced with a decentralized system like bitcoin

I start being interested in linux, start learning everything from scratch and now managing hundreds of linux servers:) anyway, I lost money with gox, bfl, blackarrow in last years, on other hand I sold lot of bitcoins at 980, when I bought them at 60.

I mean I wasen't hear on the MtGox thing , or the ~1200$ pump , and since I'am just a teenager who don't really need money , I'am buying now and holding few years and we will see what happens , but most likely it will be "Helped" if price rise with the halving block reward and if bitcoin dies before dies then it will be "waste of time" instead of "ruin your life" instead for me

I would say it has helped me a lot. It has opened my eyes to alot i just wasn't interested in before.
Not just with btc but all money markets i have become interested in now.

I once lost about $8 in btc to a blockchain wallet hack and ever since then i just wanted to learne more about security of bitcoins.
I even purchased a Mycelium entropy usb just so i could have 100% safe paper wallets and also print some for friends and try get them into it.
Its been a great rollercoaster over the last 1 to 2  yeas i have been into btc and i've loved it.

Faucets currently are a total waste of time. They take up too many resources and don't earn me as much, atleast that is the case for me, might be different with others. I have had losses in bitcoin also but to the grace of god, I have sprung up with twice better results and my investments have always benefit me. I am happy with my decisions, and positive about the future of bitcoin!

At the beginning it kind of ruined me, knowing I could have been a young rich kid if I invested in early 2012 when I first heard about it. But nowadays, I managed to stack up a couple of BTC with tons of effort, and feel god for the future. Owning entire BTC units already sets you apart and ahead of the pack. If you are here for the mega long term then you'll know that feel. It still sucks not being able to enjoy massive purchasing power right now tho.

Thank you for your advice, I agree with money management and what you've been through. But for me, I'm no big investor like you, I'm doing bitcoin not for just profit but for my own personal interest and enjoyment. And I think bitcoin has helped me a lot since I first started, because I gained so many knowledge of this digital world and really got to understand of what our future holds in currency. Bitcoin is not like any other investment I did, bitcoin is original and it's the first ever cryptocurency. It's helped me, and I believe it's helped you as well. Thank you for sharing

yes, most people just invest their money in 5-6 different ventures and forget about it. I have also made similar mistakes but learnt from them. I always follow my investments now and deal with that shit accordingly. Its fun after a time

Yes its true trading can earn you a lot of profit too and dont forget about altcoin too, some people say that using mining altcoin is a great way to earn your bitcoin too if you pick a right choice

This has happened with many people. They have been at their best and also at their worst with bitcoin . I'm sorry you had to go through that. But as much as bitcoin ruins you , it also  helps you twice more than your ruins. Personally it has helped me learn a lot of things about economics and finance that I never know . So it has definitely made my life better.

Bitcoin can be a wonderful thing if you pursue it wonderfully, it would be really terrible if you keep self doubting bitcoins as well yourself and your own decisions. I've been in that negative place and it has ruined a lot of things for me personally. It makes you feel very terrible and low and you don't want that. Yes, I would completely agree to that. Discipline is the key to success and a good life. Obsession leads nowhere. I have always been obsessive about what is mine, even in relationships and it has not given me a nice end result. So I live life with no expectations from anybody, but try to provide my level best and to grow individually. So far, so good

Its true. In every part of life you will need to be discipline in order to get what you want. What do you mean? With a good analysis I think they can get a good profit although all of it is just some speculation but most of them are making profit through the graphic anlysis and chart. And bitcoin holder most of them are having good fiat to turn into bitcoin and wait them to raise, if later the price just stay the same or lower they will not suffer much, but with specualtion trader, they use this as their earning to get some profit, learn how to read graphic and doing some analysis will make them more richer than people having rich fiat. Unless you are not aware yet, most of those who bough at $1200 could have dumped their BTC already when the price crashed. There is a tiny chance that someone will hold all of it despite the price has been cut off by atleast over 50 % .
Actually There are alot of chances to recover by riding on waves but unfortunately not many people know this and basically dumping or holding will be either of their options . Riding on waves is pretty much different than day trading though

On the other hand the "manipulated price" is not the sole fault for their tragedy because they do create their own misery by joining in to buy at the peak blindly. These people deserve this so called "fate" because they are lack of their own due dilligence and greedy enough to join in the peak rally and hope to be rich overnight

I still remain neutral. My life hasn't changed much. I've made some BTC, but I wasn't there to buy at the right moment and selling at the right time.
Our only chance unless other lucky strikes are meet, is BTC going to 10+K over the course of the next 10 years, and selling some (not all) of it at ther ight time during a mega bubble, then buying back as it recovers again.
Then again, to make interest out of that money one would need to convert to fiat and pay taxes... fml.

What you are saying is exactly correct, the people who have bought it for the higher prices wouldn't be satisfied at present with the current prices of the bitcoins.

But who entered lately when the prices were low, they still have hope that prices will go high and they can make some profit out of it, and those who have bought for higher prices have only one option left to wait n watch n sell it when the right time comes.

It is helping everyone I guess who holds the bitcoin even if it is least amount. I personally feel that It has added value to my earnings. As it is like part time earnings for me where I can take care of my basic stuffs keeping my salary intact. Where I can invest my part of my salary into bitcoins every month.

I pay for electricity out of my BTC.  This keeps it accountable where one day if BTC drops really low.... I didn't lose a ton of money on electricity.  I run a decent amount off miners so that could be a loss that would hurt my life.

Some miners I have paid for with Fiat.  So I could possibly lose that I guess.  But  I try to keep it long term on most of my bitcoin.

I was involved with trading and selling, and its just got to a point where the risks were not worth the reward. I hope many of you have had more success than I! I've tried out some small gambling techniques as well, and of course that was a major failure. BTCJAM was great until multiple users defaulted on their loans. Then I tried one of the most recommended cloud mining services only to find out it was a ponzi scam and lost out on more coin from them. My last resort was to add a bitcoin faucet to my website, but there are just far too many to compete with, and the advertisement costs to draw attention were just to much for it to be worth it. I could have had the opportunity to retrieve about $2,000 from some scammers, but for me to hire a lawyer, travel to another state for a court date, it becomes too expensive and not worth it in some cases where you are scammed.

My best advice for anyone seriously getting involved with Bitcoin is the key word "money management". You might get to a point where your operation with whatever it is could be rolling in some serious money. Don't get greedy! Thats what I did. Never put in more money that your comfortable losing. If you are happy to invest $1,000 knowing it could be gone, then set that limit until you are comfortable risking a little more. For me personally, I was rewarded very fast with Bitcoin in the beginning. Then I started to purchase more, do bigger volumes of trades, and then boom, you wake up one day and your profits and bitcoin is gone from a hacker/scammer. Yes, Bitcoin has really started a movement and more and more people are obsessed with it. I catched myself becoming obsessed and I didn't like the feeling of it. Just looking at the price all the time, reading forums and researching. Than I decided to slow things a bit.

Thanks God, I never had to fight the fight about the money with the Bitcoin. I decided how much to invest and I stick to it. If I wake up tomorrow and all is gone than let it be that way. I think if I've gotten deep regarding finances that I would have gone crazy and gotten out long time ago. Because me and my family have to eat and Bitcoin is still to some degree uncertain.

oh, you're one of the victims of the cloud mining scam, lol. Really sad for your loss, I never really believed in cloud mining and therefore never got into it, and I think that was a good decision. You say you've been trading alt coins and holding bitcoins, which is really smart. Signature campaigns are also a good way to earn some extra bucks, just make sure you don't spam and are as relevant as you can be

The most important thing when you are getting involved in gambling through sports is know exactly who your bookie is, and if he is reliable. Bitcoin has become an obsession for many people. Whether its investing, selling, gambling, or making purchases with it, Bitcoin has certainly become this trend that is much larger than it was years ago. Personally, Bitcoin has been a rollercoaster for me. There are times where I am up 9k in profit, only to be scammed by a professional for 6k. In other words, sometimes I am on top of the world thinking Bitcoin is going to make me an insane amount of profit, only to be let down feeling like I am going to lose every single dime I have because I am putting way too much hope in Bitcoin. At this very moment, I am in the process of disbanding my business accounts, and filing a certificate of disclosure. This isn't to say I have lost hope in Bitcoin, I just simply think there are too many faults that still exist with it. Even with a professionally typed paid FinCEN policy reviewed by 3 companies, scammers have still found a way to literally go above and beyond to steal money. I was involved with trading and selling, and its just got to a point where the risks were not worth the reward. I hope many of you have had more success than I! I've tried out some small gambling techniques as well, and of course that was a major failure. BTCJAM was great until multiple users defaulted on their loans. Then I tried one of the most recommended cloud mining services only to find out it was a ponzi scam and lost out on more coin from them. My last resort was to add a bitcoin faucet to my website, but there are just far too many to compete with, and the advertisement costs to draw attention were just to much for it to be worth it. I could have had the opportunity to retrieve about $2,000 from some scammers, but for me to hire a lawyer, travel to another state for a court date, it becomes too expensive and not worth it in some cases where you are scammed.

My best advice for anyone seriously getting involved with Bitcoin is the key word "money management". You might get to a point where your operation with whatever it is could be rolling in some serious money. Don't get greedy! Thats what I did. Never put in more money that your comfortable losing. If you are happy to invest $1,000 knowing it could be gone, then set that limit until you are comfortable risking a little more. For me personally, I was rewarded very fast with Bitcoin in the beginning. Then I started to purchase more, do bigger volumes of trades, and then boom, you wake up one day and your profits and bitcoin is gone from a hacker/scammer. Every person is different, every one also takes different risks and assessments when it comes to Bitcoin. All in all, has bitcoin ruined your life, or has it made your life better?

I don't think anything has the power to ruin or help your life if you have the wits to make wise decisions. I think you should invest your time in studying about what cold storage is and how it can help you, if you are interested in bitcoin for it to save your life someday and you are comfortable with the fact that it is not near, I think it might be a pretty cool idea. Right now bitcoin is becoming stronger in my country (Venezuela). It nows serves has a way to overcome strict government prohibitions (capital control).
Bitcoin enables foreign investors to inject money in the local economy, bypassing the ridiculous official rate of my local currency (the bolivar) which is 200 bolivars for every 1 dollar, whereas the black market pays 700 bolivars for every 1 dollar. To be able to send money almost immediately, without paying taxes of any kind and a the best trade rate is a winning combination that is making bitcoin more and more relevant in countries like mine.
Also: the Venezuelan bitcoin exchange platform (Surbitcoin) became the 2nd in market volume in south america. Huge props to those guys. I have used his website to exchange some bitcoins for bolivars and the experience is flawless.

earning internet from money can not very often be a give and receive system, things are different when digital. it is all about making yout text or image stand out from the other images around, something which attracts attention especially if you are talking about blogs and affiliate marketing. If we are simply discussing earning money from internet, my 16 year old lil bro has made more than 10,000$ annually from freelancing projects on the internet and fiver and stuff.

With sig campaign, using 2 account you could make ~ 400$/month, with Full Member and above, all in bitcoins.

I think thats more than just beer money or peanuts. Research it!

Maybe he is living in a country where the standard of living is not so high. A couple of dollars a week extra through a sig campaign can have a serious impact in countries where the avarage monthly wage is a couple of 100 dollars worth.

Started off using faucets to earn micro bits. When I earned my first 0.001satoshi on bitvisitor, I deposited it in cex.io. Then I went on Amazon and bought an Antminer U2 and mined whenever I can. Eventually I got more from faucets and got some helpful donations and reached 0.01. I sold and gambled some and managed to get to 0.1. From there I just kept on investing and gambling and selling. From the amount I earned I think I paid back the amount my USB miner cost.

But that is not bitcoins fault. Bitcoin and gambling are separate things although they are perfectly fitting.

The thing with gambling is that eventually you will win, its only your luck deciding it.


Only your luck decides that you win before you lose all your money.


For example if you use a dice site, and you set it to x1000 multiplier, and have a deposit of 1 btc, but bet 0.05 btc, then you can either win 50 BTC, or lose your 1 BTC.

On average your are more likely to lose your 1 BTC, but if you are lucky you can win the 50 BTC faster than you lose the 1 BTC, you get me?

But make sure you dont risk that much, and make sure that the game is provably fair!

For most people this is the case. The fact another currency exists it's not a big deal if you don't have money to begin with. If you are fiat broke, you will be BTC broke. So unless you can think of certain specific uses to benefit from it, it doesn't change your life in any way. The only thing you can do unless you have a better idea is try to buy some monthly and use it as an investment, holding it like gold. The average guy will not see much other uses right now.

This isn't to say I have lost hope in Bitcoin, I just simply think there are too many faults that still exist with it. Even with a professionally typed paid FinCEN policy reviewed by 3 companies, scammers have still found a way to literally go above and beyond to steal money. I was involved with trading and selling, and its just got to a point where the risks were not worth the reward. I hope many of you have had more success than I! I've tried out some small gambling techniques as well, and of course that was a major failure. BTCJAM was great until multiple users defaulted on their loans. Then I tried one of the most recommended cloud mining services only to find out it was a ponzi scam and lost out on more coin from them. My last resort was to add a bitcoin faucet to my website, but there are just far too many to compete with, and the advertisement costs to draw attention were just to much for it to be worth it. I could have had the opportunity to retrieve about $2,000 from some scammers, but for me to hire a lawyer, travel to another state for a court date, it becomes too expensive and not worth it in some cases where you are scammed.

My best advice for anyone seriously getting involved with Bitcoin is the key word "money management". You might get to a point where your operation with whatever it is could be rolling in some serious money. Don't get greedy! Thats what I did. Never put in more money that your comfortable losing. If you are happy to invest $1,000 knowing it could be gone, then set that limit until you are comfortable risking a little more. For me personally, I was rewarded very fast with Bitcoin in the beginning. Then I started to purchase more, do bigger volumes of trades, and then boom, you wake up one day and your profits and bitcoin is gone from a hacker/scammer. Same here. The possibility of getting a living from bitcoin is greater than anything else. Some people who bought bitcoins at the price of $1000 around may scold for ruining their investment. But they need to wait for some time. Then they also will find help from bitcoin.

Im wondering too what method he is using. The only method I know for gaining a quite big amount of satoshis is by signature campaign and by seeing his rank he's only a Junior Member so I guessed he is earning a big amount from other method. Or maybe he's an alt.

When Stellar first came out i made a few dummy accounts and got my friends and officemates to have their facebook accounts verified by Stellar and got quite a hefty sum of coins. I made 4BTC that time and price was 400usd plus.

Dude Bitcoin is not going 'poof'.. this just has only begun. Europe just said it acknowledges Bitcoin as currency which is huge news. Things are only getting better on a daily basis. Just keep holding your coins long term and you will be rewarded. And think twice before you dump it all for fiat, because fiat is not immortal, fiats collapse too, so don't have this sense of relief by being on fiat.

Did Bitcoin ruin my life? Yes somewhat I have to say. Bitcoin became my obsession as the value of it is so high that when I first heard about it all I want to do was getting my first bitcoin. And now I really become obsessed with it, everyday I spend like 4-5 hours sitting in front of my computer monitoring my investments, my miners and looking for more ways to earn with it.

Did bitcoin help my life? Yes, too. I made a lot from bitcoin. Once I used to exploit a VPS company and mine coins worth 2BTC (yeah somewhat ruin my life but still make money for me). This is like my second source of income. Day at work, night at bitcointalk forum looking for every tiny bit of information. It's worth my time because I make money from it

Im not spending much time and focusing to earn bitcoin. My only way is signature campaign and faucets. Everytime I got short to budget, my btc's are just there to backup my needs while waiting for my real job salary. This really helps.

Yeah, selling some stuff with BTC, offering my services, even started with loans... But still I am going to cloud mine some (but this time not ones too good to be true). Just some HashNest mining

Bitcoin massively helped me. Really I think discovering bitcoin is probably the greatest thing that's ever happened to me.

For a start, it is the only thing in my life I have ever found that I am completely passionate about (excluding stuff in my personal life). I plan on moving into the bitcoin space at some point in the future, hopefully with some startup (Im an accountant and every company needs accountants- but I also have a fair amount of programming knowledge- how many bitcoin enthusiast programmers with an accountancy qualification can there be!?).

Secondly, it has been a catalyst to me learning all about the current financial system. I would confidently say that I know more about how fiat works than 99.9% of people, however that isn't saying much as it doesn't seem to be on any syllabus anywhere, the only way to learn these things is to teach yourself.

Thirdly, it provided an easy way to buy cannabis (which is how I first got into btc) which I used to help with the symptoms of ME (from which I have now fully recovered). Who knows, without btc perhaps I would still be ill.

Finally, and perhaps the biggest, is that I have a huge (for me) investment in bitcoin and I am fairly confident it will pay off very well in the future. I only bought in this year so I got a good price.

Oh and one more. If/when the next bubble hits I will feel so damn smug. All my friends think I'm an idiot for putting any money into bitcoin. I have always replied 'we will see'.

I have invested very minimal amount of funds very recently into Bitcoin before which almost all my Bitcoin earnings were from referral exchanges on new Bitcoin projects, posting reviews and answering questions for bounties. Considering this, Bitcoin has NEVER ruined my life but has helped me educate myself more on how it functions and helped me research new projects that are accepting Bitcoins and providing services for Bitcoins. Also, I believe if I did invest a substantial amount purchasing the Bitcoins, I'd be bearing only a minimal risk cause I'd only be invest a minimal amount of my total savings into it.

Watching Bitcoin documentaries, helped me understand the monetary structure of my economy and also how it's being abused to an extent. Bitcoin has also taught me about the various Government conspiracies, and how it builds monetary independence among ourselves by being our own banks. Overall, it's been a good run for me using Bitcoins and learning about it.

I think this could be said for all of us. Bitcoin is something new and therefore pretty interesting. A few might have got obsessed and spend as much time as possible with it. Especially the super early adopters as they often had liberterian rootes or have been around in cypher punk space for a long time.
