There are quite a few options out there to do so with fiat money, portals which list players, rank them, and you can fund their game.
I wonder if you can already do the same thing with bitcoin?

Well. there are options like that on btcjam where you invest in people for the most random stuff, from a project of their own to poker for wsop. But if you want a more rapid investment into actual poker players, you can create a thread full of poker players and see who needs to be invested in, or find someone who can compile a website with a list of good bitcoiners of the poker world. I would be in that list too.

This is a good idea for profit making but there are some pokers that offer free no deposit bonus in bitcoin, I think you could make use of this to build your poker knowledge while waiting on the profits from your poker fund manager.

Maybe you misunderstood me, somehow: I'd be the person investing in other players.

I don't know if you mean a site for only investing in players which gives you their rank and total profit history and insure that they won't run with your money but you can check Betcoin forum if you are really interested in staking players , there are many players fund others and split the winning of some tourneys of course there is no guarantee that these players will not scam you if u pick them randomly but there are few players that are trusted and good at poker , you may stake them some money and they may achieve a good run in the tourney

He wants to be the "investor" or "funder" of some good poker player.. sort of swc when you can offer the buyin of a tournament and someone buys the share for you.

The only thing is you need to make sure they are who they say they are if using bitcoin to stake. With fiat transfers you can often get more details about a person if a deal backfires. I dont see why bitcoin cant be used to stake though its just another payment method. It would work good for micro staking.

It is not introduced yet. Bitcoin poker is not strong as far as I know. Bitcoin gamblers prefer to play other types of games, dice is being top game in general and top card game is still blackjack. Big bitcoin poker sites with huge user base regular tournaments are sparse. That is why there is no need to start player found service for our small scene, yet.

Investors need to find players with an edge, staking in poker is big business you wont get people staking for large amounts if you have a small sample size. Most winning poker players would probably be asked to play at fiat sites unless they can get better results in bitcoin poker sites.

You could do this by talking to poker players or maybe checking a poker site that has player stats and look for the best player then talk to him privately and maybe he would want to take your investment but if the player is really good then he probably wont need your investment and it would be risky for you.

This is an interesting idea, I never heard of directly backing players before, only loaning them money. So why would a big player pay me 50% of his wins, or whatever, when he could just take a loan for a much smaller %? I guess the advantage to the player is that if he loses then he is not on the hook for a bunch of money he doesn't have. I like the idea, but it seems very risky too.

In the fiat world people will use sites like pokertableratings.com and sites like sharkscope. If you want staking for bitcoin sites you could give your screen names at other sites. Probably check out twoplustwo would be a good idea for staking also.

I dot think there are any page specific sites just for staking of players in bitcoin, some of the bitcoin poker sites in their forums/chats players will get to know one another and do some small stakes daily...

I don't think either here is a builded page with the listings of profitable people or negative people that you should avoid investing.. for the moment the best option is to look in chat and see who is more trustable.

Update:Someone asked me in PM, if I want to invest in a WSOP player, something like that. - Not exactly. I am looking for an online marketplace similar to https://www.chipmeup.com but where I can bet on players by bitcoin. I understand the market may not be there, yet. So, maybe later.

Could always start it yourself via google spreadsheet or via a forum thread even. There are probably many bitcoin players who want to be staked, tracking if they are any good might be harder.
