What about legendary accounts?

not the rank, no. but Legendary members are very few and you can just spare some time and look at their post history to see if their opinions have any value and trustworthy or not. but of course that's just my opinion.

I don't really take any notice of the rankings to be honest.

There's nothing worth reading in my post history.

I've seen some discussions of users selling or buying bitcointalk accounts. Another day I saw a discussion between two hero members praising each other and saying that you should really use the other one's (paid) services. Because of the trading of accounts, I don't trust the status of any account anymore.

They aren't worthless, Hero Members in this forum are just used to the forum that's why you see them recommending services to themselves. Also, if you sell a hero member account, that is a potential 0.5 btc. And signature campaigns also offer higher rates to hero members compared to lower ranks.

But keep in mind that a member's rank in this forum doesn't define his/her trustworthiness; it only describes how long has he/she been here in this forum.

Hero accounts have values supported by the massive recognition and the large amount of payout by signature campaign! Ppl here are eager to have hero accounts. Their holders wouldn't do anything bad (small amount) to ruin their hero accounts.

I totally agree with that but sometimes people sell their accounts discretely. If a scammer buys a hero account he could have the intention of using a previously trusted hero account to trick people into being scammed.
Personally I think it takes a long time to become a hero member, it's sort of an achievement so I'd never dream of selling mine when I become a hero member.

To directly respond to the OP hero accounts are nowhere near worthless, you can earn over 6 BTC  a year as a hero member just by participating in a pay per post signature campaign. If you're on here a lot posting then you might aswell get paid for it.

You two got the points there.
An hero member account wont ruin himself in scams or so.
Other different thing is if the account has been bought.
So in my opinion, hero member accounts are not worthless, however if you are going to trust someone (maybe for an off market trade), if possible always use some escrow.
