I have 10 btc stored in cold storage should i be concerned?

with the recent news about the orphan block and what not I want to know if my bitcoin is safe. i stored it in a wallet a few months ago using a private key generated with bitaddress. its been stored in cold storage since and if there isnt any risk then i dont want to mess up the security and have to re do a private key.

so is the problem only to do with recieving btc? should i be concerned and take action?

because im not technical enough to understand im asking for your help.

If you used bitaddress.com I would be worried, send your bitcoins to a fresh wallet made with bitcoin core or multibit.

Cold storage will be fine, unless you want to move them to Coinbase Vault.

That depends.  Exactly how did you use bitaddress to create your wallet?  They have several methods.  Some are good, some can be really bad.

OP, if you generated your wallet online, directly on their website, I recommend you:

1* download https://github.com/pointbiz/bitaddress.org/archive/v2.9.9.zip
2* disconnect from internet
3* delete browser cache and unzip the folder
4* start it: bitaddress.org-2.9.9/bitaddress.org.html
5* generate couple of wallets and print them in 2 copies each
6* split 10 BTC from old wallet to more new wallets than one, five should be ok (you can use smartphone with mycelium for this action)
7* distribute wallets to 2 different safe locations, one copy to each one
8* delete folder bitaddress.org-2.9.9 broswer cache again
9* connect back to internet

you know, better safe than sorry and related to bitcoin, this is valid 10x more..
