I've sent a 6 btc transfer and it hasn't confirmed in almost 3 hours, never had this happen. I'm sure it will confirm eventually but does anyone know how long it usually takes? I'm not too familiar with the fees thing but there is a fee on it. Never had a transaction go to medium priority so I'm wondering.

Estimated Confirmation Time: Within 6 Blocks (Medium Priority)
Total Input: 6.25348802 BTC
Fees: 0.0002 BTC
Size: 1404 (bytes)

Priority is calculated with this formula
Code:
priority = sum(input_value_in_base_units * input_age)/size_in_bytes
where the base units are satoshis and input age is the number of confirmations.
I don't remember what the thresholds are, but the lower the priority number, the more time it will take for a transaction to be confirmed. It may also be taking a long time to confirm because someone is spamming the network and creating thousands of unconfirmed transactions. This creates a backlog.

that's odd, 1400 bytes and 0.0002 should have confirmed np.

ofc you should always change that 0.0002 into 0.00021, or the 0.0001 into 0.00011, this Changes Your Frown to a Smile

There are plenty TX waiting currently, in fact we have an all time high that tripled the previous high. Some even report that there over 50K TX waiting for confirmation. I would not change my behavior regarding fees just because someone is doing a stress test of the network.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

Unless I wanted my transaction to confirm quickly, in which case that is exactly why transaction fees exist. They allow me to give my transaction priority over the thousands of lower priority transactions that pay a lower fee than me.

I wouldn't be changing it because 'someone is doing a stress test' (odd stress test that, since the core client rejects those transfers as dust), i'd be changing it because .00001 (or .00000001) is worth nothing, yet puts you ahead of all the .0001's
