Bi Fury 5 GH/s USB 2.0 Bitcoin Miner

I'm trying to get my Bi Fury 5 GH/s USB 2.0 Bitcoin Miner setup and working with the Bitminter application.  I've used Zadig to install the WinUSB drivers, but the application still can't detect the device.  Any ideas?

First are you are windows?


Second  ask us first before you load drivers.

but  now that you loaded zadig  don't use the bitminter app.   as it does not use zadig drivers. ---- I could be wrong since I have stopped using it and I use cgminer

try  downloading cgminer 4.9.2 from here if you are on windows

Sorry, I should have provided a lot more background.  You have answered my question though, I've switched to cgminer and it seems to be working fine.  I'm happy with that, so thank you for your prompt assistance.

Yeah I had those sticks on bitminter and the client consistently under reported hash.  this is from 2013.  there was an unsolved bug in the client for the sticks.

So I switched to cgminer and they worked.
Once you load zadig  you commit to cgminer.
I am glad it worked for you.

Unfortunately, I spoke too soon!  I've come back to it today and switched my computer back on, now the Bi Fury is not recognised, only as "unknown device" and I can't even get Zadig to do anything.  Obviously cgminer can't detect the device either. 

I'm on Windows 7 (64 bit) running cgminer 4.9.2.  Not sure what other information is useful at this point.

Any ideas?

are you using a hub? specs of the Hub and please tell me you had a fan pointing to them

Thanks for replying.  No hub - there's an extender but it's only short - to get it away from the laptop's fan.  There is an arctic breeze USB fan pointing at it.

yeah you overheated the port and the pc is protecting it.

I found some advice elsewhere that suggested plugging in the Bi Fury really slowly.  Sounded crazy to me, but I tried it.  If I do, the green power light comes on a second before the device is fully plugged in an noticed by the laptop - every time I do this it gets recognised correctly, whereas plugging it in normally always says "unknown device".  So it seems to be something to do with the power.  I'm a software guy not a hardware guy, so I'll just keep doing what works!

Thanks for the advice though, I think I will look at getting a powered hub.  That brand isn't available in the UK (where I am) but there are others that look similar and have good reviews.

have a looks for the dlink dhub7 there about 15-20gbp but by far one of the best hubs you can get in the UK and will happily run your miners all day long

this is a good hub.  it can do 2 of them pretty well.

would run more than that they come with 3amp plugs iv got 3 and a hexfurry running on mine never had any trouble
