If so, what were your thoughts?

I'm mulling over getting a copy but don't want a straightforward potted history. Were there some interesting revelations?

Not that I care, but from this discussion you could conclude that the book is obviously filled with FUD & misrepresentation of Bitcoin and its blockchain. Personally I feel purchasing it would be a waste of time, energy and money. This is at least from what I've grasped from the topic.

Anything from the book is probably less information than you could get from reading bitcointalk for about an hour.

Here is an article by the book's author last year:
http://tech.mit.edu/V134/N5/wire1.html

Looks like he just regurgitates the obvious. It is most likely geared toward the non Bitcoin user.

I gave it a read. A nice rundown overall if you want it laid out for you.

What was most worthwhile were the insights into how some of the major players got started and what they were thinking at certain points. The author evidently had plenty of access to them.

It ends in early 2014 though which was surprising, but the news comes so thick and fast you have to have a cutoff point somewhere.

Im about 50 pages deep lol. So far from what I've gathered it provides a lot of detail about early on and even before The bitcoin was launched. If the rest of the book is as detailed as the first 50 pages then its going to be a good read.

I got it.  I like it so far.  I've only read the first ~20%, but it's thoroughly researched, and kind of interesting.  From what I've read, I'd say it's worth while.

From the previews that I have read, the book seems to have a nice background of the players in the bitcoin space and how Bitcoin has evolved.
I plan to sit down with it sometime soon.  Smiley

I'll be looking forward to your review after you've read the book. Perhaps it'll be a stepping-stone for sceptic users like me, to acrually pause and purchase it.

It's more about the personalities who have become prominent through it, but it does have some rundowns of how things work too. It would probably inspire you to wait until the space has been completely taken over by people who are actually competent.

I got a copy yesterday and will report back after I read it. It sure looks promising!

Edit: I read it, the book gives you a nice insider look on early bitcoin players. 9/10 Don't really know if everything inside is true, Nick Szabo denied giving Popper an interview.

I read it in two days and thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to learn the bitcoin history.

Anything from the book is probably less information than you could get from reading bitcointalk for about an hour.
Judging the final book by an article released more than a year ago by the same author? Silly nonsence.
