I'm fine either way. The math is easy to do if you want to see the pure proportional estimate
Pure proportional estimate = (your current shares / rounds's shares) * 49.5

So as long as you have a calculator or are really good with an abacus, you can have it both ways.
According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Just added simplecoin to the guiminer ui. Hopefully it'll be standard in the next release.

Ok, I did some digging on the stale shares....

It seems most likely that it is router/isp dependent. Longer connections like long-polling tend to be killed off by routers or disrupted by flaky isps/traffic routes. Your stales shouldn't fluctuate much between pools, with the exception of mega pools with tons of workers. That said, a bad route to the server from your ISP could cause certain pools to have higher stale rates.

If the pool gets large enough, I'll likely setup pushpool nodes in hotspots near high-usage locations similar to btcguild.

In the case of a bad network route, I'm not enough of a network guy to know if it can be rerouted easily from your end.

In the case of a router killing connections (seems my wifi accesspoint has this issue), I'd try a different one or a reconfigure.

Current site fees, transaction fees, and round scoring are now dynamically listed on the Home page. These are the exact same database entries used for payout calculation.

I'll be migrating this to the github source shortly. Just one more way for the site to be completely open with our users.

Yeah, I'm getting a lot of stale shares on this, and not a lot at bitcoin.lc (I have them set as a backup miner). Almost 25% for you guys, and less than 2% on bitcoin.lc

Any idea what's going on?

That's really odd. I have 13 stales on my main miner after 1 day. PM me your IP so I can have the colo try to track down any routing problems. Also, it wouldn't hurt to know what miner you are using, and cpu or gpu mining. Also, have you tried restarting your miner (could be LP issues)?

Restarted it, and just looking quickly I have 35 Accepted and 19 Stale.  IP is 98.232.43.92, and I'm using a phatk Pheonix miner under guiminer. In case it matter what hardware, it's a 5750.

Wow, I did a traceroute to your IP from the server, looks like you might have some laggy hops on comcast on the west coast. Somehow I get a better connection from Comcast Nashville,TN to the servers in LA.

I'm not sure the best way to attack the issue, but I'm looking into it.

Once the site has enough liquid balance, I'm thinking about adding unconfirmed payouts in a manner similar to btcguild. Any interest?

Additionally, transaction fees will be reduced to 0BTC as soon as I can get all of the code in place.

UPDATE: No more tx fees!

Wait...wait...wait! We got another block?
Sweet! Right before diff. change. 1,690,906 isn't so bad!
Good job CB! Smiley

I like the idea of an unconfirmed balance box!
and no tx fees is always good!

What about the 24hr hashrate chart. Mine hasn't worked...ever! I only ask because, when I'm at work, and if something crashes, I can tell how long my miners have *not* been working.

I didn't know the chart was having issues. I'll put it on my list of issues. If you see an error can you PM me the details. Also on the todo list is a way to make the stats update faster along with miner failure email notification.

Update: Working on not just faster stats, but live stats.

Big site update happening after this latest round is rewarded.

Live Round stats, live round estimates, better worker stats, better block identification and hopefully less server load.

This update will not require me to bring the pool or site down. The only thing noticeable should be stat miscalculations during the upgrade (You'll know it's fixed once your stats are live.
