There are tons of guides and ebooks about internet marketing but you have to be precise in picking the right one. Yes it do require a lot of time and patience but in the end, if you succeed then it is worth the investment.

Hi,

Internet marketing.. it is one complicated yet very easy type of marketing.

It depends on what you are tying to achieve out of internet marketing.

Most businesses aim for their contents to go 'viral' which in return increases the overall awareness of the product/service/company.

1. Choose the right online platforms for your business.
(Many people think that using as much platforms as possible can get things done. Wrong. You need to configure and decide what platforms you are going to be utilizing in order to send your message out to the general public.)

By assuming that you are selling a health-related product, we recommend you open an official blog, facebook page and create an Instagram account for your business.

2. Get your messages right.
You need to be active on your platforms once it is created. Never leave it for more than 4 hours after your last content has been uploaded. Keep engaging with your platforms. Upload contents, post replies, reviews etc.

BUT

It is really important that the contents you upload are somehow related to your products / company.
Never only upload contents about your company or products. You have to mix and match the contents between your company & the industry your company is in.

Therefore by assuming that you are selling a health-related product, you would be uploading 1 content about your product, 2 contents about health-related issues or the health-industry. This is to attract the general public. You can swap it once you have reached a satisfied number of 'followers' or 'fans'.

3. Advertising counts!
Just because you have a well-made site running, official blog designed in a cool manner, and an instagram account with hundreds of followers, it does not mean that you have it all in this world of internet. The real winners are those who advertise.

Advertise your business in industry related sites. Try doing a partnership with a health-related facebook page with over 1m fans. Most of the time, they will create original contents for you and upload it to their pages. (You need quite a bit of money for this though)

Don't just advertise everywhere. Correctly set your target audience. Narrow it down to maximize advertising effects.

Just google it and pick right articles. After that, use common sense to chose what will work for your company or product. As someone said, this should be an easier kind of marketing, but not easier in a sense that it's easy to hit the right kind of marketing, but easy since it's done online. You need a computer and you can do it from your house. You can also use trial and error more easily in Internet marketing, you try and if doesn't work you change it with something else.

I would highly recommend the forum BHW or better known as blackhatworld. As with any forum, there will be a ton of information to shift through.

I don't believe there's a much better place to get started with learning the ins and outs of Internet marketing than on BHW.

Your best bet is to also take the time to read and learn as much as you can about Internet marketing.

You're gonna come across a boatload of individuals offering services that are going to try to promise you the world.

You have to learn to sift through the bullshit before thinking about spending cash on IM related services. Just my two cents.

There are many types of Internet Marketing. As, you're saying you want to start marketing for your product. But you didn't specify which way you're going to target as IM is a wide term such as Affiliate marketing, PPC, SEO, Email marketing and so on..

I'd suggest you to first learn about it and then start working on your product promotions or hire an expert IM guy.

I'm into Internet Marketing myself too. If you want to sell a healthy product, I think you should look for parties that provide affiliate marketing for you.

On these affiliate networks, you can set the amount of % you want to pay "affiliates" (promotors of your product on their own websites) for each sale. For example 5%-10%.

This really works quite effective. At the better affiliate networks, you can set really strict demands for the affiliates. For example, you can control by yourself who you allow to promote your product and who doesn't. In that way, you can allow affiliates with for example blogs about healty lifestyles etcetera to promote your product. This is quite effective and in relation to "just" marketing also cheap: you will only pay the affiliates (for example 5%-10% of the value of the product only for each sale) and the affiliate network a bit.

I think most of the traffic for websites, comes out of Google.     

Making use of SEO in a good way, will make your website more easy to find on Google; you'll get a better (> higher) position in the search lists. Even small changes with regard to SEO can make a huge different. Don't underestimate the amount of people using search engines to find specific websites.

If you're not into SEO yourself, you can pay companies to do this for you. However, be sure you find a company with real (positive) experience with regard to succesfull SEO changes. Such people can screw up your website if they want to.. And it might cost a lot of money too.

I agree on that. I've spent many and many hours on creating a travelwebsite with 2 other persons. And I really mean maaaaaaany hours. (We created unique content - texts for all countries in the world for example). Although we should maintain this website more than we do, we still somehow do get some income through Adsense and affiliate networks (for selling a trip for example).   

Maybe I'm going to spent more time on this website when I've got more free time than I do now. Once you've got it all set up, by maintaining your website for a few hours per week you can expect a pretty nice income if you've got a decent amount of traffic to your website.

10 years agoo i would tell you that you need to made a great marketing campaign if you want success on your product, ATM i can say that the net is just like any other busnisses, if you have $ to promote your site then you will gain money, as simply as that, sad but true, or you can just have the best idea ever and have a great success and followers in a short period of time.
