Maybe Bitcoin will be worth $1000 in the future...I hope so  Roll Eyes

As long as everybody is refering to bitcoins value in dollar you know its not a real currency. A real currency stand on its own legs.

I look At bitcoin as more of a commodity that you can easily transfer and spend, unlike gold.

NOW it can help the greeks.. but will they be smart enough to move wealth into or keep it in their doomed to fail banks.

Nobody can feel sorry for those who had a choice.

Now, if the generous Greeks want to donate all their money to their troubled banks out of charitable goodwill, then fine, go ahead and let them.

I choose BitcoinDebitCards over ______________(fill in the blank with the name of your favorite bank)__________ debit cards

BitcoinDebitCards - Whats in YOUR wallet?

i will probably never use any bitcoin debit cards, they are good and have a lot of benefits but i find it in contrast with bitcoin.
bitcoin was created to let you do your own transactions and don't rely on anybody else for what you want to do with your money (BTC) . besides there is always a lot of different fees involved when using debit cards which makes me think twice before considering using them.

that will never happen!             ......oh wait....it did happen  Lips sealed

But the question is it going to happen again and if so when? Bitcoin seems to be a common value people want ti to go back to and I admit it would be nice. I don't think we've got enough demand/adoption currently but hopefully we'll get there eventually. I just hope we don't have to wait too long for it.

not only it did happen but we also managed to surpass it by a lot more than 20%, until now every ATH was surpassed so it is safe to assume that we will do it again with 1200 or with any other value

without doing fancy prediction, i can tell you that we should wait and see because the potential is there and this is the only thing that everyone need to know

There are thousands of millionaires in the world.  At some point they will dip there toe in bitcoin and open a small position.  Even if they bought just 10 coins the price will explode.  It's probably already started really...

I'm not sure about this.
Yes, there are a lot reach people in the world, with a thousands of millions but they invest mostly in the real marketplace, stocks, real estate, forex etc.
I don't think they will consider to invest in bitcoin now when they can cash out bitcoin only through some exchangers or bitcoin ATM.
In my viewpoint, turning point for bitcoin will be when some country in great financial difficulties, as Greece now, that has nothing to lose and is facing bankruptcy, decide to try to introduce a bitcoin as the main currency.

everyone is waiting for the next one to make the first move, if even only one of those rich guy that normally is playing with stocks/forex, shift to bitcoin, and start a good wave, i'm sure many other rich people will follow

when they will strat play between themlseves the marketcap of bitcoin will look like nothing you have ever dreamed about, eve 10k would look like a tiny drop in the pacific

p.s. i don't see the problem in cashing out, for them, through exchange only, it work the same as cashing their money when playing with forex market

Lake, this article can't be read unless someone has a subscription to WSJ. Would be better if you could copy the text into the post.

I agree that there's been a lot of positive news lately, likely the driver behind the quick price run up too! It's an exciting time to be involved and watching and aware of what's going on. Let's up the future continues to provide steady but safe and sound growth (e.g., the Fork, etc.)

Hopefully in the future, WSJ accepts Bitcoin so you can pay them a small quantity of BTC to unlock only the article you want to read instead of having to pay annoying monthly subscriptions. I mean imagine how much money they would get from doing that, and for free, they don't need to invest any infrastructure because its all there already. BTC saves the day once again.

why is it impossible? Future is just like a box of chocolate, and you never know what comes the next.

How Future Bitcoin Can Prevent a Future Greece?

Bitcoin, the volatile digital currency, cannot help the Greeks of today. But it could mean a great deal to those caught up in currency crises to come.

For the average Greek, getting one’s hands on bitcoin requires buying it with euros—the last thing any sane Greek would give up. That’s why the bitcoin of today has no bearing on what could easily become a humanitarian crisis.

But Bitcoin is at an inflection point, and it’s evolving much more quickly than all but its most dedicated observers realize. Whatever happens to bitcoin itself, the technology underlying it opens up previously unimagined possibilities for the future of just about anything humans exchange.

[...]

http://www.wsj.com/articles/how-future-bitcoin-can-prevent-a-future-greece-1436744064

Bitcoin cannot stop fractional reserve or the way the banks work.
And if Bitcoin continues at a steady pace to be more and more adopted, then it is only a matter of time that banks join in and find ways to exploit it.

That, or all bankers worldwide will come to their senses and only accept the average wage of their region for services rendered.
