Otherwise you're including the tens of thousands of bots that visit daily, as well as tons of other things (if a client does multi-process downloading, it will increase the view count, for example).

Awstats isn't that inaccurate. It does detect bots, spyders, robots etc. It places non-human views under 'Not Viewed Traffic' (the other 3,200,000 views). The only thing that Awstats doesn't do is track users using browser-specific cookies. It only registers IP's so it will double-count users with a dynamic IP. I'll set up the Google Analytics tracking code to prove our traffic.
