Is this statement from the first post still accurate in light of the release of the S7?

The statement as a whole still stands, because it's qualified by "at this time" and the post is datestamped well before the S7 was released. So, technically yes it's accurate.

Without the qualification of that description being set there about five weeks ago, no it's not really accurate. However, if I were to say "being shipped" then yes, it'd still be accurate for another three or four weeks.

Gotta admit though, the S7 has me beat.

The SP20 is definitely the good kind of boring. I've got one that's been mining for over 270 days with no problems. As long as I feed it cold air, it consistently performs like work horse.

Too bad that Spondoolies are out of the running this time around. It would be nice for Bitmain to have some competition right about now.

So, I still have some kinks to work out with the pick-and-place. About half a dozen of my parts aren't rotated right but that's an easy setting. I stepped through manually and fixed things where I had to, took notes on what needed to be changed in the work file. The potentiometer is the only part I really worry about; it gets picked up just fine (sometimes) but then discarded because the tool doesn't have a good vacuum (on account of its shape) and thinks it's screwed up. The machine discarded about five in a row and then bailed on the program entirely. So that'll need some testing.

I have one board fully placed. Novak hooked up the new oven and figured it out, showed me a thing or two before he left for the day (a little over two hours ago) so I have my panel with one populated stick cooking now.

My goal for the day was to not go home until I had a stick populated. I was hoping to get a whole panel placed and baked, but that'll happen tomorrow. My timeline, jestingly, was to be done by 10PM.

It is now 10PM.

I'll finish the stick tomorrow (need to snap it from the panel, fit USB jack and heatsink) and test it and let everyone know how it's going. Then fix the work program and run out a whole panel. Then post pictures because I'm not going to post pictures now because it's daggum hot and I've been here for eleven hours already. Which puts me at 31 hours worked since 3PM Saturday? Yeah it's time to go home.

I had to touch this guy up by hand a bit, since I don't have all the component rotations set right on the robot - first time and all, you know. I caught most everything and flipped it manually, but I didn't notice that one of my FETs was on backward. In my defense they're pretty symmetrical. In any case, the body diode conducted 5V into the ASIC and it's probably dead now. The FET itself was also damaged, which damaged the buck controller so power didn't work even when the FET was put back on right. So replaced FETs, buck controller and ASIC and now I have a fully working Compac - first one off the line!

I need to do a bit of firmware jiggling on it (with data courtesy Luke-Jr) and make sure it works properly on BFG and cgminer. It's working on Novak's Compac test build of cgminer right now - pictured above, it's running 200MHz.

I need to run out a second stick after correcting rotations (and hopefully teaching the robot how to handle the pot), and that'll also learn me how to set up paneled boards. If the second one comes out working without manual intervention, I'll run out the full panel.

I did notice one small issue with the PCB, which is slightly embarassing. When I changed stuff around the pot to give us clockwise-increase adjustments, there was a single small trace that got left over, hidden underneath the silkscreen, which basically shorts the whole pot to ground and forces the regulator to minimum 550mV output. It'll just take a minute with a good knife to sever said little quarter-millimeter-sqaure piece of aberrant copper and get things back to right. So far that's the only issue I've found.
