Idk if anyone mentioned this but you can't crossfire a 5xxx with a 6xxx they have to be in the same family to do that

That's usually the case, but you can CF a 5770 and a 6770, cuz they're pretty much the same card.

Yeah im not using crossfire at all. I didnt think I could with the 2 cards I do have.

Im gonna tweak with it a bit more today, and see what happens.

Any thoughts on why I would be crashing mining litecoin though trying to get the same hashrate? Its beyond me

Litecoin uses different algorithm for its proof of work ... and I bet your hash rate is 256KHash/s (not MHash/s) ... this is abut the max I got out of a 5850 when I tried it

You wont get the same hash rate, as previous poster said, its in the way the algorithm is used, you wont get any near what bitcoin will give you in terms of hash rate. 250k is about right for litecoins with that card. Ok now you have it up and running the "ART" comes in to play now, find a happy mediuan with YOUR card. like women, look similar but each has its own funny quirks. If you find 900/300 works for you, great use it and forget about it. As long as the system is stable and you are getting close to maximum returns, and at 300mhs thats decent for 5850, mine run at 308 mhs each and rock solid for almost a month! But I also have 2 5850 that run same speed but give me 375 or so. Ron Popel attitude, set it and FORGET it. 400mhs is nothing if you keep having to reset it every 2 minutes. Holla if you need anything else.

5850 should run stable with a 900MHz gpu clock, providing ~375-380mh.

Not all 5850's will OC to 900+

It also depends on the power supply.

my sapphire 5850 from 725/1000 OC to 840/1100 gives me 350 mhash BTC and 360khash LTC.

rising clocks beyond this is definely not recommended, its not worth 5% more coins if u fry your card.

I have one 5850 that will clock to around 940mhz. but the rest are just under 900 mhz when running 4 in a system.
