What?? Is he saying he's going to launch his own brand of Bitcoin ATMs? Maybe they'll come with Mike Tyson's Punchout and if you can beat Tyson you'll get some free bits, like a faucet

Ha, what the hell is this crazy shit? Just checked his twitter & that tweet actually is on there. Strange, I wouldn't have seen him as a bitcoiner. He's probably getting financial advise from somebody. Still good though, he's got 4.9 million followers, exposure & publicity is key people. Lets hope he can get more people investing in bitcoin

Despite his sketchy past and thugish image, Tyson is widely reputed to be a very smart guy. It would not surprise me if he was hodling some bitcoins, and it would not surprise me if he opened his atm.
Of course it could also be him promoting something for investors, like George Foreman did.

He's probably getting financial advise from somebody. Still good though, he's got 4.9 million followers, exposure & publicity is key people. Lets hope he can get more people investing in bitcoin I think we could be at the beginning of some serious institutional FOMO. You have Fidelity jumping into the crypto space with their trademark filing, Citibank wanting to join in crypto, NASDAQ is on board with using the blockchain for some IPOs. Now we have Mike Tyson jumping in the ring (pun was definitely intended) with his bitcoin ATMs. Does that mean he already owns bitcoin, I'd think it does. Either way it seems like institutions are now making their positions in the crypto world so they don't get left behind. FOMO is powerful, FOMO feeds bubbles. There will only be 21 million folks.

This is interesting. But, this must be someone who is managing Tyson's finance or using Tyson's brand. We need to know who else is involved to get a bigger picture.
p.s. If Tyson's bitcoin venture sees success, I'm sure many other sporting legends will follow him.

If Mike starts actively promoting his Bitcoin ATMs as he makes his usual rounds on the talkshow circuit, yes, the price of Bitcoin will be positively affected.

What is more significant price wise? Bill Gates buying more BTC for his foundation (a guy from the technology area investing) or Mike Tyson opening his own ATM (a more mainstream celeb investing)?

I'd definitely say Bill Gates. They both have a large amount of followers, however Bill Gates has more influence over people with more of a tech and investment background. I'd imagine most people that follow Mike Tyson are not techies or investors. Since bitcoin makes sense to more people with a tech or financial background I'd say Bill Gates is a more significant supporter.

I was very surprised to see Tyson into Bitcoins. He doesn't come across as someone interested something so intangible as bitcoin? FWIW the website is © Copyright 2015 Bitcoin Direct, LLC ... So it's marketing for using a big celebrities name. But it's always encouraging to see high-profile be aware and share Bitcoin.
That's why. He is a celebrity spokesperson for Bitcoin Direct! Mike Tyson is a celebirty, no doubt. Is he really the right person as a spokesperson? I don't think he can pull people into bitcoin. His words doesn't carry enough weight. The list isn't that long. We need more and bigger stars. A bitcoin logo on a top female tennis player in a grand slam final would do nicely.

Bill Gates of course, he moves millions, but don't understimate the power of Mike Tyson. He is not only one of the best ever in the sport of boxing, he is part of American culture and a legend, thanks to this now millions of people will be aware that at least Bitcoin exists, so this is indeed awesome news, a great publicity stunt for Bitcoin.

So who is going to sell him some prize racing pigeons, using only Bitcoins? I would be too scared to, because I need both of my ears. This just shows us, the older generations is still on the ball, when it comes down to ground breaking new technology. We just landed ourselves with a prize fighting legend, and I hope he will help us fight our battles, like he did in the ring when he was still boxing!!!!

I doubt it was started by Mike Tyson. It's really likely that someone is just using it as a way to distinguish these ATMs from other Bitcoin ATMs. If they are doing so though, it is likely that they're going to get into trouble if they ever become big. EDIT: I was wrong. Just googled it and found an official twitter post announcing it: https://twitter.com/MikeTyson/status/624986928690036737This is interesting, and it may be able to reach out to sufficient non-Bitcoin users due to him starting it. But still, the question is, would an easy way to convert Bitcoin to easily usable cash convince you to start using Bitcoin? Not necessarily. Maybe if your currency was highly volatile (even more volatile than Bitcoin !?) then maybe. But otherwise, this would appeal to only existing Bitcoin users, which seems to sorta miss the point.

Mike Tyson is probably looking out to make some extra bucks because he lost most of his fortune, but none the less, this is the kind of publicity we need to make bitcoin a trend amung young adults; which are by my thought the targeted audience. Let's just hope he doesn't screw this up cheers

I was just thinking, if Mike Tyson has bitcoins, he might be an active member on these forums. Better be nice to people around here just in case!

Mike Tyson can knock me out 2.5 times before my cash is turned into Bitcoin? Waiting at his ATM sounds terrifying.

What is more significant price wise? Bill Gates buying more BTC for his foundation (a guy from the technology area investing) or Mike Tyson opening his own ATM (a more mainstream celeb investing)?
Bill Gates of course, he moves millions, but don't understimate the power of Mike Tyson. He is not only one of the best ever in the sport of boxing, he is part of American culture and a legend, thanks to this now millions of people will be aware that at least Bitcoin exists, so this is indeed awesome news, a great publicity stunt for Bitcoin. And never underestimate Tyson's influence to teenagers. That dude was wrestling, had cameos in several movies.Even my niece knows who Tyson is.She just got 12. But she has no clue who Bill gates is although she knows a lot about tech for her age. So both are important I would say. Both guys bring different types of people into our ecosystem. And only that counts in the end.

This is clearly the best news ever.
It is. As I am not hyped about ATMs themselves but fact that Mike Tyson is promoting Bitcoin is awesome! It would be ideal if we had more bitcoin exposure from celebrities of top caliber like Tyson. The fact that 5 millions of his follower on twitter will read his tweets about bitcoin is the best advertising bitcoin could wish for.

Last I heard he was sleeping on a chicks couch broke
When you see guys that blew 1 BILLION in fiat saying they got a btc atm coming
That's a good reason to dump btc
LOL
First time I saw him fight on a feed he was what 17 or 18 or so
I said to group I'm with, this kid will be champ until 2000 (that was like 1986 or so)
UNLESS he self destructs
He was the most awesome heavy weight ever
COMPLETE FEAR FACTOR he had
Sure enough he got into blow and chicks and flash and by 1995 he was on his butt looking up at a bottom tier fighter like Buster Douglas
But for a few years the action was how fast would he knock out anyone that dared to get into a ring with him
Then the bs rape stuff, the loss to Douglas, the Don King fiasco
If Tyson is saying something has value RUN

This will end up being pretty big for Bitcoin in the upcoming future. An endorsement from any celebrity much less one as big as Tyson will mean a lot of growth.

awesome, Mike Tyson will be the rep of bitcoin ATM? Or is it his own brand? Ouch, let's see MT gives us a big surprise, he helps to promote bitcoin, and he is the most famous boxer, we will see bitcoin will be 1500 USD.

I think this is exactly what it is. Tyson will do pretty much anything for money these days and makes a living just from doin personal appearances and signings etc so I'm sure he just leased his name to these machines. Personally I don't care as any news is good publicity for bitcoin and gets us into the mainstream media again.

What?? Is he saying he's going to launch his own brand of Bitcoin ATMs? Maybe they'll come with Mike Tyson's Punchout and if you can beat Tyson you'll get some free bits, like a faucet Plus 1,000,000 to Punchout idea. I wonder if he will do a Bitcoin episode on Mike Tyson Mysteries? perhaps if you can't beat Glass Joe you have to pays funds into the faucet...

The man behind a Mike Tyson-branded bitcoin ATM in Las Vegas has defended the initiative after accusations it was a scam surfaced today. While some hailed the news as good PR for bitcoin, questions about the legitimacy of the project soon surfaced following a closer look at the site's domain owner, Peter Klamka, and the project's partner, Bitcoin Direct LLC. SiliconANGLE reporter Duncan Riley noted the patchy internet trail of Klamka's firm Bitcoin Brands Inc, an over-the-counter (OTC) stock with a market cap of just $6,780 and no visible product offerings. http://www.coindesk.com/mike-tyson-bitcoin-atm-hit-with-scam-accusations/

He has a successful cartoon airing in Adult Network and his Broadway show was a success. He is no longer the guy that would make the entire room scared shirtless as he stepped in. I think he is a very likeable character nowadays.

In my opinion, this is good news for Bitcoin. Mike Tyson has somewhere around 4 - 5 million followers on twitter. It is nice to see someone with that many followers tweet about Bitcoin in a positive fashion.

He has been working a lot lately and has a huge movie coming with Jamie Foxx as the main character which is going to be a guaranteed hit delivering tons of profit.

Actually I never seen Mike Tyson as a funny person except in The Hangover, and most of people in my city still knowing them as a scary people who did bad things in the past. But yeah that would be great if he really could make people be attracted with bitcoin.

Set by atm owner. Probably between 2-5% to be competitive w/ exchanges.

Welcome to the future of money Iron Mike! I thought the initial buzz was just a rumor apparently he really does like Bitcoin this is good for exposure. Where did Mike Tyson said anything about Bitcoin personally? I dont think he knows what it is, he just accepted to give his image in order to get $$ out of it. Anyway, whatever helps putting Bitcoin out there is a good idea. That ATM will surely stand out from the rest.
