So who is going to sell him some prize racing pigeons, using only Bitcoins? I would be too scared to, because I need both of my ears.  Grin Grin Grin

This just shows us, the older generations is still on the ball, when it comes down to ground breaking new technology. We just landed ourselves with a prize fighting legend,

and I hope he will help us fight our battles, like he did in the ring when he was still boxing!!!!

The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

I doubt it was started by Mike Tyson.
It's really likely that someone is just using it as a way to distinguish these ATMs from other Bitcoin ATMs.
If they are doing so though, it is likely that they're going to get into trouble if they ever become big.

EDIT: I was wrong. Just googled it and found an official twitter post announcing it: https://twitter.com/MikeTyson/status/624986928690036737
This is interesting, and it may be able to reach out to sufficient non-Bitcoin users due to him starting it.
But still, the question is, would an easy way to convert Bitcoin to easily usable cash convince you to start using Bitcoin? Not necessarily.
Maybe if your currency was highly volatile (even more volatile than Bitcoin !?) then maybe. But otherwise, this would appeal to only existing Bitcoin users, which seems to sorta miss the point.

No longer active on bitcointalk, however, you can still reach me via PMs if needed.

Yeah i agree on what you said, but i think its still great for Tyson to be doing this, im sure people that are his fans will start wondering what bitcoin is and if it appeals to them, they will get into it

Mike Tyson is probably looking out to make some extra bucks because he lost most of his fortune, but none the less, this is the kind
of publicity we need to make bitcoin a trend amung young adults; which are by my thought the targeted audience. Let's just hope he doesn't screw this up  Roll Eyes

First Lucy Liu is into bitcoin
Now Mike Tyson"s ATM
whats next? Donald Trump will launch his own coins? Grin

Oh god no, Trump is like king midas only instead of gold everything he touches turns to shit.

I was just thinking, if Mike Tyson has bitcoins, he might be an active member on these forums.  Better be nice to people around here just in case!

What is more significant price wise? Bill Gates buying more BTC for his foundation (a guy from the technology area investing) or Mike Tyson opening his own ATM (a more mainstream celeb investing)?

Bill Gates of course, he moves millions, but don't understimate the power of Mike Tyson. He is not only one of the best ever in the sport of boxing, he is part of American culture and a legend, thanks to this now millions of people will be aware that at least Bitcoin exists, so this is indeed awesome news, a great publicity stunt for Bitcoin.

And never underestimate Tyson's influence to teenagers. That dude was wrestling, had cameos in several movies.Even my niece knows who Tyson is.She just got 12. But she has no clue who Bill gates is although she knows a lot about tech for her age.
So both are important I would say. Both guys bring different types of people into our ecosystem. And only that counts in the end.

This is clearly the best news ever.
It is. As I am not hyped about ATMs themselves but fact that Mike Tyson is promoting Bitcoin is awesome! It would be ideal if we had more  bitcoin exposure from celebrities of top caliber like Tyson.
The fact that 5 millions of his follower on twitter will read his tweets about bitcoin is the best advertising bitcoin could wish for.

Last I heard he was sleeping on a chicks couch broke

When you see guys that blew 1 BILLION in fiat saying they got a btc atm coming

That's a good reason to dump btc

LOL

First time I saw him fight on a feed he was what 17 or 18 or so

I said to group I'm with, this kid will be champ until 2000 (that was like 1986 or so)

UNLESS he self destructs

He was the most awesome heavy weight ever

COMPLETE FEAR FACTOR he had

Sure enough he got into blow and chicks and flash and by 1995 he was on his butt looking up at a bottom tier fighter like Buster Douglas

But for a few years the action was how fast would he knock out anyone that dared to get into a ring with him

Then the bs rape stuff, the loss to Douglas, the Don King fiasco

If Tyson is saying something has value RUN

This will end up being pretty big for Bitcoin in the upcoming future. An endorsement from any celebrity much less one as big as Tyson will mean a lot of growth.

awesome, Mike Tyson will be the rep of bitcoin ATM? Or is it his own brand?

Ouch, let's see MT gives us a big surprise, he helps to promote bitcoin, and he is the most famous boxer, we will see bitcoin will be 1500 USD.  Shocked
