IPL lasts for almost 2 months and during that time there is no international cricket of any format. Apart from Pakistan, major players of all cricketing countries are in IPL. I do agree that there is little interest in such lengthy tournament. Last year two more teams are added and this will decrease interest in IPL in coming days.

It's just 15 years and right now IPL is currently having spot into World's Richest League which have mostly leagues having more than 50 years in sports which is surely amazing stuff and most chances in near future this league could be at second spot behind NFL which is surely leaders in the richest leagues, but things can change in future as well because currently India is doing amazing stuff in sports and development which is going to help them for having better system and infrastructure which will bring revolutionary changes for common persons like as well.

What was the contribution from Lalit Modi? The league was the idea of Subhash Chandra of ZEE. The BCCI started IPL in order to counter Chandra's ICL. The format was the same. The bidding process for new teams was not transparent and Modi was involved in a lot of scandals before and after the start of the league. Once Congress lost power in 2014, he fled from India with his looted wealth and currently he is living as a fugitive in London (which is home to more than 50% of the financial criminals around the globe).
