Why do people still play dice?

I've noticed a lot of people saying they play dice for fun. I strongly believe it's not that simple.
First, there are a lot more games that are more "fun" than dice. And I mean... a lot more fun! Why would anyone choose to have fun on the probably least funny game out here?
People don't gamble for fun, people gamble for wins. Period! And dice is indeed the best of giving the gamblers the impression they can use magical formula, weird variations of martingale .. so on and so forth. Dice is gorgeous, dice is wonderful for gamblers. It has just one tiny flaw, that all gamble games do, that all gamblers know about and that all gamblers seem to ignore: the house ALWAYS wins.

"But hey, the house will always win from others, because my super secret tricky martingale modified formula can never fail! Oh, wait, did I just loose a fortune? This dice game must be rigged! Hell, at least I HAD SOME FUN! Tomorrow, my formula won't fail me again and I will recover my losses while having even more fun!"

This isnt right at all. formula/ strategies or whatever isnt only applicable in dice though you can always try to use it in any other game. The bolded part is correct though as most people gamble only to win therefore the simplest form of gambling would be dice which is fast and no suspense whatsoever

I guess he was speaking about the top luckiest players who has won thousands of $$ and never needed to gamble again and again ,if they do so then they too eventually lose all because its online gambling and the house wins after all dosent matter if jesus comes and rolls on any of these dice sites.

I dont think someone who win a lot doesnt take their chance to roll again, it is always up and down in gambling, you will never know until you try it and if they know how to control it they will never suffer on loss

it is more than possible; poker is gambling, wouldnt you agree? and there are several professional poker players that make quite the living playing poker. however, your point about this being impossible for the average joe hold pretty true. becoming skilled at poker to this point where one can make a consistent 6 figure income from playing piker takes an immense amount of both skill and experience. however, it is possible, which is the important part.

This is not about poker, this thread is about dice, im sure that even the luckiest guy alive wouldnt be able to profit from dice in the long term, you neef extreme luck and the longer you resist the more luck you need.

i was referring to gambling in general, as "making a living solely off of dice games" was not stated even implicitly in the post i replied to. in the case of dice however, of course with some otherworldly luck it may be possible, but everything from numbers to common sense points that it is not possible as dice games are purely chance, and unreliable. in addition, being -ev, one would be expected to lose in the long run anyways.

I used to play dice because i thought i could make profit, stable profit from it, obviously i was wrong, you can't win in the long term, that was my only purpose of playing dice, other than that i do not find it fun or entertaining unless im winning money, i would not play dice if money was not involved, so my question is, why people still play? Im sure 90% of people know what your odds are and that strategies don't work, what is their purpose? Do you guys really have fun playing dice? Watching a number appear on the screen?

While I don't think I will get rich by gambling, it does provide some entertainment for me.
But I prefer luckybit, rather than dice.

Let's hope that is not the current situation of Bitcoin. Looking at the current value, I become a bit sad (especially if you look at two-years graphs). Let's hope this is not the huge losing streak you are reffering to, which is going to empty our accounts.

Honestly now I do see some similarities in this process about gambling (and dice) and buying Bitcoin, although buying Bitcoin is not like gambling. I still think there can be a great bright future for Bitcoin - but that future seems not to be very soon.
