I'm US based and prefer buying Bitcoin online. Have been using Coinbase but don't enjoy paying their 1% fee every time. Speed is not a concern for me so the 3 days or so wait for Coinbase to debit my bank account doesn't bother me at all. I'm just wondering if there's a cheaper online alternative. I was considering Xappo but you have to pay for the wire AND it seems to me their BTC price is consistently a few dollars more than Coinbase, so that's another consideration. Thanks for any suggestions.

The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

Stick with Coinbase. Everyone else charges fees between 3 to 6 percent if not more.

Wow. It's very surprising that with all the venture cap money being thrown at Bitcoin that no serious competition exists in this area for Coinbase. Someone should come out with an Amazon Prime approach where for $99/year you can buy all the Bitcoin you want and at a competitive price. Shocked

I took a look at btc-e and the fees are definitely less than Coinbase AND the bitcoin price is cheaper as well. Do you or does anyone know how long btc-e has been around, where they are based and who has funded them?

Circle is less expensive than Coinbase. If you buy bitcoin using a linked bank account there is no fee to buy bitcoin.

Unfortunately their buy price for bitcoin is about 1% higher than Coinbase.
