Don't quote otherwise the thread will become bigger then Burj Khalifa  Roll Eyes and if you do , remove pictures from quotes .

Sam Patterson from the OpenBazaar core team released a user interface demo prototype this week with configurations, customizations and samples. The software itself is still incomplete, but the browser based UI is almost finalized, with new improvements in the chatting system and store/item display.

Merchants are given the ability to fully customize their stores – from header colors, text colors, background images to color themes.

Item Descriptions

Similar to most e-commerce platforms, users are allowed to upload multiple photos and descriptions of their products, shipping fees, conditions, reviews, etc.

Purchase & Chat

The design of Open Bazaar platform has been changed completely since the walkthrough demonstration of Open Bazaar Beta 5. On the most recent OpenBazaar user interface release, users can chat with other vendors and buyers to discuss the products and resolve related issues, (e.g. shipping, damages, etc...)

Who is 'they' ?

And what do you mean by 'illegal stuff'? Illegal according to whom? OpenBazaar is not operated from or associated with any country, region, or geographical location. Thus, there is no country or jurisdiction in particular whose laws apply. Therefore the whole concept of 'legal' vs 'illegal' loses its meaning entirely within the context of OpenBazaar, it's simply not involved here.

I seriously doubt that. Does the Euro or US Dollar's reputation suffer from the fact that billions worth of drugs and weapons are being purchased with it?

Besides, who cares if someone else is selling 'illegal' (according to your own subjective notion of 'illegal') stuff on the same platform. Simply don't buy that sort of stuff, and everybody's happy. Win-win!

In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

In the last interview with them, they explained it like this.... When the internet came out, people said.." Oh, but it's going to be used for a lot of illegal stuff "

This was true, but it did soooo much more good things too.  Wink This is also one of those technologies where both good and bad can be done, but we hope it's more good than bad.

The same goes for so many other technologies "Facebook / WhatsApp....." We life in a world, where there is good and bad, and we should just accept it for what it is.

I like the fact, that it goes up against a giant like eBay, and if it can disrupt their monopoly in just the right way, we might see a bit better service from them too.  Angry

This should make you more comfortable  : http://fortune.com/2015/06/25/openbazaar-not-silk-road/
I personally don't think people will sell those Illegal stuff , even if there is they won't be a lot to do that because difference between Silk road & OpenBazaar is that Silk road was focusing on selling those stuff .

Thought I personally prefer dark themes for most of my things, I'm not sure it's the best suited color scheme for an open marketplace. People have different perceptions and preferences - I hope they provide an option to switch themes and personally would not make this the default.

Openbazzar developers should focus on a framework/protocol of the network. the UI/front end should be opened as an addon according to the framework. Let UI designer do their work.

The front end looks like crap and dated btw

I guss you didn't see the text between the two first pictures , as you can "Merchants are given the ability to fully customize their stores – from header colors, text colors, background images to color themes." under the first picture .
You will see on the store what the store owner choosed (colors , text etc ... ) , It's good enough . No Marketplace have done that before IMO

Well you can't prevent it, people will do as they wish. We can only hope that positives will outweigh negatives.

Personally, I really like the project and I think this is a nice chance for Bitcoin to shine. Design of the  Bazaar is really nice in my opinion.
Can't wait for it to completely shine so I never again enter Ebay and Amazon.

I like the look of it (based on pics in the OP). I'm really excited about Open Bazaar & what it could give the bitcoin community. I really hope it lives up to it's potential. I hope it gives us the exposure to gain more investment & therefore makes the price increase. Lord knows we need something to give us a bullish sentiment & start another run up.

Any eta on when this thing is actually going to go live?

but how will they prevent people from selling alot of illegal stuff?
Who is 'they' ?

The OP devs obviously.

I doubt LE will see it that way.

OB isn't a currency. If people can buy cp and drugs/weapons on there it isn't going to be used by most who just want a every day marketplace.

Not a vast fan of that look, but that's the easiest element to tweak.

What is more important is whether there are lightweight options in the pipeline like a phone app or web interface. One of the first things I come across when I google it is 'How to Setup/Run an OpenBazaar Node on a VPS'. Millions of eyes will instantly glaze over.

Retail reduces most humans to mindless lumps of jelly. Until it's as easy as accessing just another website it'll remain a niche curio. I'm sure all that stuff's on the way but it's not disrupting anything until it's there.
