If my model of Slimcoin's burn algorithm (and associated data structures) is right, then it would be the result of the "burn address balance" minus "Formatted nEffectiveBurnCoins" (one of the values you get if you type in "getburndata"). In this case, about 800.000 SLM "decayed" from 2014 to today.

Some of the bugs have probably already been solved (or were related to the old Peercoin version of SLM 0.3.2). But things like an Electrum port or a working pool are obviously still very much desired features.

Unfortunately for USians, the functioning of the econo-political system in the US has degraded to the extent where this ^^^^ nonsense is more likely to be approved than not. Happily we can let FB continue pursuing its own corporate death spiral by poisoning its own watering hole and then having to introduce increasingly preposterous remediation strategies to (unsuccessfully) neutralise the poison that it introduced in the first place.

I call this sort of thing, AI. Yes, that's basically the same “AI” as you're seeing plastered all over the media and prompting discussions of the ethics of classification algorithms applied to machine-logged “records” of human behaviour, etc. the sort of AI where the semantics of the abbreviation more properly refer to “Autistic Intelligence”.

I will readily concede that in significantly-reduced bandwidth channels, it is now effectively impossible to distinguish machine-hosted autistic intelligence from human-hosted autistic intelligence.

I've yet to get a sense of whether that's going to be a Good Thing(tm) or not.

The plot thickens...

After I successfully compiled and started the 0.5.0 version mentioned, it still continued to crash randomly, while downloading the blockchain, without any info. I feared a hardware problem, and a look at the Armbian logs showed that the SD card, via the eMMC driver, was doing way too many writing/reading cycles and choked.

The solution was to move the blockchain files to an USB drive and start the Slimcoind daemon with a different datadir option

But even now I was experiencing random crashes, due probably to a certain limitation in the file descriptors on Armbian / Odroid XU4. So I ended up creating a watchdog for the Slimcoin process, called monitorSlimcoin, which is in turn started by a different file, called startSlimcoin.

startSlimcoin file, saved in /usr/local/bin/startSlimcoin

The natural progression would be to add the mining option directly to the slimcoin.conf file, but atm I don't know if it's generate=4 (the number of cores) or setgenerate=4, and I'm a bit tired. Will do more trials (and, obviously, errors) tomorrow, and report back.

I know this setup is almost unbearably ugly, but it does the job. And the job is to assess how reliable such a device would be for a general purpose Slimcoin node. For those of you not aware, Odroid XU4 has an octa-core ARM at 1.6Ghz, and 2GB RAM, almost like an entry-level laptop, but it only draws 5-10W of power.

Yeah I know what Odroid is. It basically has the same components as tablet or phone like Galaxy Alpha.
Interesting this is.
But isn't some efficent x86 cpu better and more reliable for a node? Like Atom clover trail or newer? That is more powerful than arm and on the same power consumption.
You can habe there a full or lite/cut off version of Windows X86 or Linux, which should be more reliable i think.
But it would be cool idea if it would work on eg. Ubuntu Touch - I would even buy some phone Ubuntu Touch compatible with sideload/dual boot and test it through.

About translation once again - I asked my friend he told me that he knows some people who know French and Italian really well, but they want some money - would slim community wanted to do something like this? I'm not against it, tho I won't ask you for money, because it's against our idea I think. So I told him no, but I should first ask you.
There are some nodes in France and Italy - would this guys could reply at least here to see if there are here or just mining without being much into the further growth, of the coin (it's not bad - it's ok for me, just asking if someone would like to make this), if I could I would make it. I will probably start to learn more languages this year, so maybe I can translated like in 2018, maybe a little earlier.

Yes and I can even add more in BTC if we have some progress on getting to exchanges. Asked some times gjhiggins about his SLM address to send some donation/bounties - because his work for the wallet is really great - even if I can't build it under Debian 8 at the moment - but he never replied...

If someone with reputation the community can trust is ready to hold bounty-bank - I can send SLM or even BTC to them because I don't have much time to monitor all the technical progress (and my English is not so good, sorry!).

I even can try to find some time and make Russian translations for all needed stuff if it can help somehow.

Simply by running all cpuminers against one nodes rpc interface. Don't confuse the wallet miner with the separate cpuminers from OP (check under Slimminer Downloads).
The miners are then started with something like this:

It uses an extensively modified version  of Abe, for which the trail starts here.

Slimcoin's extended block structure (as described in “Anatomy of the Genesis block”, a new addition to the website-hosted docs, edits, corrections, etc. welcome) impacts Abe profoundly because Abe reads the block data out've the chain, recreates the individual block metadata and tx structures, then stashes the data in a DB.

It is quite nitty-gritty stuff, even had Peter Bushnell hunting for implementation detail.

It's not clear to me yet whether ABE's db structure would need to be changed for this specific usage (but it obviously would have to be changed for Abe to be usable as a block explorer for Slimcoin).
