I'm sure the people standing in line at Jonestown for their cyanide-laced Flavor-Aid had similar hopes.

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

Butterflylabs has produced and shipped products before and they will do it again, they aren't a scam, they have an office and people actually building things in it...
though I believe this to be true, I mainly just want this to be true so that my $700 purchase will not be in vain.

This wait's ridiculous. We should just forget about it so we can get a pleasant surprise, let's say, a year from now on our door step lol.

Ugh. You'll get your sweet payout alright new guy. A fat helping of, "we're shipping in two weeks" X10 + a side order of "we've dropped hashrates, increased power consumption, and doubled prices" ...oh and btw our products will ship in only TWO MORE WEEKS! Shocked

Its more to do with cognitive dissonance; they must have a reason to defend BFL because they have invested a lot of money in orders, but deep down, they fear its a scam, but won't accept it. So there is positive reinforcement that as one is invests more, they have more reason to back up in favour of BFL. Same goes with a smoker; I smoke because it makes me feel relaxed but I know that it is bad for my health, but I still smoke.

A lot of it, just as in cults in general, is that admitting something is a scam would mean admitting you got suckered, i.e. you were a dupe.

So there are a scary number of people who would rather continue to be a dupe in the face of overwhelming evidence than have the balls to face reality.

Have they shipped anything (not an FPGA)?  I'm very skeptical since it generally costs many millions of dollars to develop & produce an ASIC.  What trick does Butterfly have?

Sweet payout? lmao
You likely ordered unit some time in last month or two. When cyprus and crazies price spike occurred. Therefore there will be like 1000 people receiving units before you. By the time you will get your jalapeno it will perform in the same way and fashion like low end nvidia card is doing right now.

There you go with your sweet payout.

Or sell them on ebay ... the Jalapeno seems to still pull a good $100 profit per unit.

Thanks for the heads up.. Its because of people like you, the world is a better place  Grin

You're welcome.

I thought about it more:

Do you know why they encourage paying with bitcoins?

Quote
Please be aware that your order date is set at the time payment is received, so we recommend Bit-Pay due to it's faster processing time as compared to bank wire transfer. When ordering via Bankwire Transfer, our sales agent will respond with the appropriate payment instructions so that you may make payment and complete your order.

Because BTC is much more easier to run away with than with cash. I wonder how many people actually paid by wire. Zero?

Do you know how many serious companies accept BTC?

Even if the CEO had legit intentions...
... he is doing illegal business! Remember he is under supervised release and even if HE won't run with your money, he could be arrested and sentenced. Do you know what will happen with your BTC then? Do you know that governments usually give a fuck about BTC because it is NOT A CURRENCY?

Totally agree. These guys sound a bit fishy to me

I believe that they are actually going to ship the products.  However, whether or not you'll actually be able to mine any coins with them is another story.  I just bought mine, did the math, and now see that there's going to be a LOT of competition out there.
