Apparently I don't have enough posts to post outside of this forum, so I will just repeat that BFL is not a scam, but they are likely guilty of incompetence or overpromising.

LEGIT REPLY: My friend supposedly  Recieved his Asic today from BTL.  Hes still trying to get it setup though. apparently its pretty complex to setup.  I'll let yall know if he gets it working or not.

How can running a miner be complex? I would love details on this, as I have obviously never used an asic miner.

Agreed.  They are certainly not scammers, but they do have a habit of overpromising, and their communication overall is terrible.

Nah, why stop the preorders if you still make Money with it? As far as i know, they never told you when your miner will arrive.
So if they semd the, 2020 they still´ve done their job and lurking for the Money.

I dont think they have started shipping anything other than Jalapenos atm. Will ship 50 GH/S soon hopefully.

I agree they are not a scam. just incompetent. Those chinese AVALON beat them by a huge margin.

The problem is that most people who believe in bitcoin, myself included, look at mining as our major investment vehicle this year. When you only have under 20btc to your name today this kind of decision can make or break you in the next year.

I know that peope should be aware of the high risks involved with mining bitcoins but I also think people should be able to get honest information on those risks.

Exactly, posted this a while ago how it is crazy how they are still allowing pre-orders.

How will they maintain their lifestyle without that pre-order money coming in?  They even announced "shipping" recently to milk the pre-order cash cow some more.

They'll ship... eventually. The owners/operators are way in over their head and have no idea how long it will actually take to do things because they've never done them before and keep running into unexpected issues.

Personally, I think they just started taking orders way too early. I mean, they started having power issues this year, when they started taking orders last year. I understand that you need money to get a working prototype up and everything, but you don't need to sell thousands of products, and then not give them something for months upon months. I think they will ship their products, but by the time they do, the market will most likely have a ton of ASICs online, and it'll be a lot less profitable. They should just start selling their chip like Avalon. I mean, from what I've heard their chip/products would be more advanced, at least according to the specs they announced.
