Hi Guys,

We are working on putting together a few bitcoin related courses and I wanted to get your input on what types you would actually be willing to pay for (probably around $100 per course).

A few of the early outlines for courses we had were:

  • How to Live on Bitcoin
  • How to Securely Store Bitcoin
  • Economic Principles of Bitcoin
  • How to Create Your Own Cryptocurrency

Which of these courses appeal to you? Do you have any other suggestions for courses?

The courses in themselves would comprise of a mix of video, audio, and written content, as well as some downloadable materials.

Any advice in this regard would be much appreciated as we are looking to solve some of our user's pain points and provide value to the bitcoin audience.

First bullet: not that appealing. If you say that living entirely in bitcoin without converting to fiat, it would be very, very difficult for the user because it is a case-to-case basis. Also depends on the location whether there will be merchants wherein you can buy your daily needs.
Second bullet: anyone can already search that on Google.
Third bullet: for the economists in us, this could be quite an interesting course. But asking a hundred bucks for that seems to be very expensive.
Fourth bullet: create your own altcoin? Might be appealing to some, but I don't know, maybe it will not be that inviting as most of the people don't want to sweat out their brains trying to create the "next big thing."

I'd like to see children taught about bitcoin at school from as young an age as possible. We need to educate the younger generations as it's maybe too late for stubborn, older people in positions of power etc.
I don't know how possible it is but I'd like to see children taught about bitcoin maybe within the next 10 years.

This I agree with completely.  We should be teaching them about money... rather interesting we don't.. probably because shit would hit the fan and well I don't know any teachers that actually understand money.

Gold standard? what?

Our money is backed by gold you tool.

and so on lol.

Depends on the quality of the course and who are going to teach the course. Is this some sort of an online course? $100 seems to be too pricey. Honestly, no one would apply to those courses when all the information they need is readily available through the help of Google.

I would hope, that in the "how to securely store bitcoin" course you touch on the many shady investment schemes, the unregulated nature and risks of these, the poor performance of cloud mining schemes, the risks associated and general safety regarding such risky investments.

though not actually "secure storage" the above mentioned rackets are cause for more loss overall than simple hacks. Many a n00b has been bankrupted by such crooked endeavors.

I'm not sure people here are the ones to ask, because they're probably interested enough to research the answers themselves. You'll have to try to find a way to get other people who don't know much about bitcoin yet, but is interested and make them believe that the information you have is worth that much money. It doesn't seem to be easy, but if you are really good at sales and marketing, it's probably doable.

but it's 99.99% sales and marketing, and 0.01% content.

This is a good point, i would like to see kids being teached in how to profit from Bitcoin instead of having to tell their parents they want to put a google adsense account on their minecraft videos that they upload to youtube, or for their music or whatever. Kids will move millions in the future because they are so tech wiz at early ages. There are kids with youtube channels moving millions of dollars and streams on twitch too. Imagine if they could bypass all of that and get paid directly in BTC.

My comments are probably not much help to you but I need to vent. Smiley
I'd like to see some structured approach to analyzing the incentive mechanisms and game theory in bitcoin. I guess that also leads into security.
Stuff seems to be scattered everywhere; I think I'd pay to get it all together by someone who understands it well enough...

Yes, I would really like to have such courses explained in language simple enough for someone with a basic knowledge of math & statistics (sophomore college level say).

Epileptic curves?  (Sorry, too fat and slow a pitch to ignore)  Smiley  Peace!

I concur that $100 is probably too much.  Price would also have to reflect quality, part of your reputation would depend on word-of-mouth reviews...

-- Add coin mixing techniques too!  SharedCoin (similar to CoinJoin I believe) and bitmixer.io (both tecniques work well for me) appear to use different algorithms...  I would be interested to learn more.

-- As well as TOR and VPNs and other ways to get more anonymous.

-- Perhaps BTC-related basic programming for small businesses, etc.

Great topic idea - will you be developing some courses?

I'd like to see:
  • Business uses for the blockchain
  • How to make money mining, in 2015 and beyond

Please don't do this: "How to Create Your Own Cryptocurrency"

We already have tons of shitcoins...

Yes, there should be a law against creating more shitcoins.
There are to many of them, there is actually a coin called shitcoin,
that is how many shitcoins there is, they ran out names in the dicionary for new coins.
