They are really going to struggle this season I think.
This might be an understatement. Between having to compete in  the EPL, league cup, FA cup, and the Champions League, you just know they're going to have a difficult trying to sort out the squad when injuries or red cards begin to appear.

They can just field b-teams for the domestic cups. I'm sure the Premier League is their main target but they're certain to give it their best shot in the Champions League as well.

I don't know how this strategy of not buying any players in the transfer window is going to play out (Poch is the guy who likes to use youngsters from the club's academy), but in the long run, I feel like they're going to regret not incorporating new players (they'll have the January transfer window, but they'll have to pay a lot for new players).

I don't think it was a strategy. They just didn't manage to buy anyone. No point spending money on players just for the sake of it. They've already got a very strong team/squad. Manchester Untied spent a lot and look where that has got them so far.

Really sucks that as soon as the season starts & we start to enjoy watching football regularly again a pointless international break comes. I mean seriously, what is the fucking point? The World Cup only finished about 2 months ago & 4 games into the PL season we have to stop for a couple of shitty friendlies.

There’s only one positive to all of this, I get to see Liverpool guaranteed at the top of the table for another 2 weeks Grin

Yup...  Watford vs United is the fixture to watch.  Smiley

Btw Mou's rant could actually be a diversion to put the spot light on him, not the players' bad performances...  That's according to Matic that is.  He said Mou did the players a favor.  But what's the difference?  The managers should always get the blame.

Why don't you use Manchester City as an example of spending money and actually accomplishing something? If we're gonna keep using the same Man Utd narrative then of course any team that didn't spend that much is gonna look like they made a great investment.

And they (Spurs) don't have that strong squad everyone keeps saying, N'Koudou, Sissoko, Llorente, or Harry Winks, aren't exactly great subs, you know those subs who you expect can save you in a CL game when you're 1-2 down in the 85' min...if you want to be a competitive side but those players are your backup plan, well, results like last weekend vs Watford tend to happen.

Hell, even Sol Campbell (what a centre-back he was during his prime!) is surprised Spurs didn't make a single signing [1].

Absolutely. Pochettino is partly to blame as well. The game was completely out of Spurs' control by the half hour mark, and he did nothing to change it up until it was too late. Credit to Winks, he looked strong when he came on, but Poch was clearly hindered by the lack of depth or good attacking options on the bench. Puts even more pressure on Kane, especially with international commitments and the EFL Cup starting up too.

I agree. Always bores me when the international break is on.

Spurs made all their subs in the last 3 minutes and brought on Llorente, Winks and Rose. They had no attacking players to bring on because Son was away and they didn't sign anyone during the break. They are really going to struggle this season I think. An injury in Kane or even Lucas and they could totally fall apart.

The Rashford red was somewhat unfair. I mean, yes, it was a clear red, but Bardsley kicked out at Rashford after the ball was out of play. They should both have been sent off. VAR is needed.
Nah all Premier League clubs REJECT introduction of VAR though, but i agreed it's because of Bardsley first that make Rashford did that. About Spurs, Son will be back soon because South Korea u23 just won the Asian games and he can avoids military service and join Tottenham like usual now.

VAR is less important in things like the domestic leagues. One goal or missed opportunity isn't the difference between someone going home or not or winning the title. If referees miss things on pitch such as violent conduct the FA can and does issue penalties for them after the fact.

It depends on who you buy. Man City may have got most or all of the players they wanted, but I agree they essentially bought the title but that's not always the case or can happen. They do have a much stronger team and squad than United in my opinion. They have a lot of superstars don't get me wrong, but they still can't compete with City IMO. What were the players that Pochettino actually wanted? If you can't get them then it's pointless buying some subpar players just for the sake of it. Maybe they'll take advantage when the transfer window opens up again but buying the players you want isn't always an option. Remember Spurs still essentially play second or third fiddle to the two Manchester teams and arguably Liverpool now and those are where the big names tend to go even though spurs get better and better and are certainly becoming worthy rivals.

I'm sure all opposition team fans and even some sections of Manchester United are hoping Manchester United loose, and Mourinho gets the sack. However that's not going to happen, I had suspected it along and now I'm really sure there is a huge financial package involve if Mourinho was to get sacked, and we all know that Manchester United owners love saving money.

Manchester United vs Watford is a mouth watering clash, and if Mourinho wins it I guess he silences his critics for a bit, but what if Watford are the next Leicester they have performed brilliantly so far. If you'll understand the reference Mourinho got sacked post the defeat at Leicester hands in his third season, will history repeat itself?.

^  For Man United to get out of the rut their in, then it's time for them to accept that they're not and will not ever be back in the level of dominance under the SAF era without giving the club some time to rebuild.  So they tried taking a short cut by spending big on the past couple of transfer windows...  It didn't work, it's now time to get down to business, get a manager who's willing to go thru the rebuilding process and actually rebuild.

Ferguson had indeed had a very strong magic power and he gave a result of the initial coaching. Ferguson raised a lot of Manchester United academy stars and he and the class of Manchester players have presented many titles. While at present the management of Manchester United always thinks that with money they can get satisfactory results, even though it cannot be done by Manchester United. Maybe for other clubs that will be different results. Manchester United needs coaching from the start and it must be done to make the Reds devil remain a team that counts every season !!!

I don't think it would be that easy for other managers to match the achievement of Alex Ferguson during his days coaching Manchester United, Alex Ferguson always seems to be able to unleash the potential of every players he brought to Manchester United, and under his guidance, Manchester United have always been able to perform very well constantly as a team. Jose Mourinho does have good players in Manchester United now, but he needs to find a good solution to make those players perform well constantly as a team.

It's prolly cos of the 'hair dryer treatment'.  Lol.  Look it up, Alex Ferguson hair dryer treatment.  Grin

Anyway, it looks like United wants to hire Andrea Berta as sporting director to help Mou in acquiring the players the club needs.  Good!  That was the original plan anyway, but Berta decided to go to Atletico instead.  They prolly didn't offer him enough money.  Lol.

Woodward prolly doesn't know what he's doing half of the time.  Berta help built the Sevilla squad that won three straight Europa League trophies.

Edit:  I got confused.  Monchi was the sporting director at Sevilla (who transferred to Roma around the same time Mou was appointed United manager) who won three EL trophies straight, not Berta.

I don't know who Berta is.  Lmao.  Wtf am I talking about?  Anyway it would be sweet if they get Monchi.

Glad the Premier League is back this week. Two games I'm really looking forward to are Tottenham vs Liverpool and Watford vs Manchester United. The Spurs game could be the battle to take or keep the number one spot but games like this could even be vital for the title shot as I don't expect either team to lose many games this year. If Watford manage to get three points they could even take the top spot themselves (especially if the Spurs/Liverpool game is a draw). Watford are on a roll at the moment and have the home advantage but they won't have an easy ride against United who are looking to turn their form around after their last win. A loss to Watford really would be another kick to the nuts for Jose and he needs to get some wins to keep his position.

I believe Chelsea should be able to beat Cardiff City easily this week at the stadium of Stamford bridge, after checking the English Premier League table, Cardiff City have only managed to obtain two points out of four matches played, and this is often an indication that the team will be battling hard in the relegation zone for the rest of the season, I guess it is almost impossible for Cardiff City to get any points from this match playing against Chelsea.

Yes! Super excited! Watford has a chance for 3 points against United? I don't think so..

Watford are 4-0 including a win against Spurs, while United are 2-2 including a loss to Brighton. Could easily go either way.

Another win for Watford will put them on almost 40% of their total points last year (41) after only 13% of the games.

This is going to be very interesting match as Watford is doing very good in last four matches and United is unpredictable but now they are gaining confidence and have good away win but I am going with Watford as they was super against Tottenham and this win can give them more confidence and they can go dark horse like Leciester other interested match is Tottenham vs Liverpool for me visitors are in pole position as they are doing very good in this season.

Watford's winning streak will almost certainly come to an end very soon and this is the game that will likely break that. I think there's too much at stake for United but maybe the pressure will get to them and Mourinho. If United lose then this would be very bad news for him as he's already on shaky ground. He can't keep losing especially to teams like Watford even despite their recent performances.

I think the Tottenham game will be a draw and Chelsea will win putting them to 1st place. I think a lot of people have overlooked Chelsea focusing on the Liverpool/Man City and Tottenham teams but I wouldn't be surprised at all if they win the league this year (though I agree they've got some very tough competition and my money would be on one of the other three).

Hugo Lloris & Dele Alli out of the Liverpool game Saturday, should give my Red Men a slight advantage.

I'll wait for the full line-ups to be announced before I put any money on this (or make my predictions on the predictor). I would have probably gone for a draw but if Spurs are down players and Liverpool put out a full strength team I'll be likely to back them, especially as I think Liverpool are the slightly stronger team anyway.

I wonder how many people will have the balls to back Watford against United? That game could go anyway I reckon. Could be zero goals, only one in it or an absolute slugfest.
