Mining on an isolated box in case there are any shenanigans.

Wallet passed a brief Avast scan though.

Zero virustotal detections. https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/cf8f43b0241ab6883b884287281aca0da8d035681491a61486a1a0782b6903a3/analysis/1439129120/

But trojans have still gotten past Avast and Virustotal. Checking for weird processes now...

Nothing out of the ordinary in my processes list. Until further analysis by someone who knows more than me, the Win wallet appears to be clean.

why waste your hash on this obvious shit scam coin?
it's even more sketchy than most the scam coins i've ever seen.

Blue Coat Web Filter ? :-)

I've just checked their filter "sales" page and checked www.suprnova.cc and it is not categorized as "Piracy" or anything like that, so maybe your workplace has a older/obsolete version of the filter... Maybe you could ask your IT Admins to get it updated.

"I've just checked their filter "sales" page and checked www.suprnova.cc and it is not categorized as "Piracy" or anything like that, so maybe your workplace has a older/obsolete version of the filter... Maybe you could ask your IT Admins to get it updated."

I'm pretty sure that when I tell them I'd like to see the systems upgraded so I can visit a miningpool, it wouldn't be appreciated much...

True...

GetProofOfStakeReward Manually checked Good

What is this? And how to read this info?
As you know most of the coins have very similar code bases. But any little bug could damage the whole blockchain. To avoid this people check the code both manually and automatically.  As I know ocminer automatically check code for already known bugs, so his checks couldn't find new bug. Earlz check code manually, but he also could miss something, because codebase is very huge. I chose different way. I wrote the script which compare code in one coin with code in other already inspected coins. So if you see something like "Good blackcoin arch " it means that i already inspected this code before in blackcoin's and arch's source, and I think that its safe. When my script finds new code it asks me to check it manually and tells me which codebases is most similar, so 'CBlock::ConnectBlock                Most similar blackcoin, diff=5, codehash=1a0a6fb0d9bc6aefff4e'  means that most similar code of CBlock::ConnectBlock have seen in blackcoin and there is 5 places where something was changed.
Currently i check only most important functions in main.cpp.

Maximal number of PoW blocks is 15000, however PoS blocks allowed from the begining. Take this into account.

I wrote the script which compare code in one coin with code in other already inspected coins.

You might wish to consider extending the range of inspected coins that you bring to bear.

The rather tragic heritage of this coin is explicitly laid out in, of all places, https://github.com/darkether/darkether/blob/master/COPYING (you couldn't make it up). ...
Code:
Copyright (c) 2014 bitpop
Copyright (c) 2014 hackcoin Developers
Copyright (c) 2013-2014 NovaCoin Developers
Copyright (c) 2011-2012 PPCoin Developers
Copyright (c) 2009-2014 Bitcoin Developers

bitpopcoin was abandoned by bitpop and he welcomed re-use of the bitpopcoin source: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=665896.0 but I doubt his vision stretched this far.

The heritage is “tragic” (or tragi-comic depending on the degree of your Bitcoin monotheism) because hackcoin was a opportunistic hybrid launched over a year ago that combines elements of blackcoin, darkcoin and novacoin. It was promptly filched by infamous serial crapcoin dev Carsen Keck to form the codebase for Dreamcoin and from there diffused into a bunch of other alts (apparently including  shrms, arch and nebuchadnezzar, hence their appearance in xadsa418’s analysis).

In this particular instance, the reconfiguration fron bitpopcoin is minimal, so much so that after “harmonising” irrelevant differences (e.g. nullifying pure branding differences, project build and repos admin config differences) a straightforward diff reveals the full extent of the changes to the (June 2014) codebase:

http://pastebin.com/FFTS2FFB

The hackcoin codebase which was cloned for bitpopcoin was already obsolete when hackcoin itself was launched; by that time Dogecoin had already migrated to Bitcoin Core 0.9.

I have yet to hallucinate any positive rationale for launching a new altcoin using such an elderly codebase and features. I can’t imagine that it’s the kind of heritage that is likely to provide much support for an inspiring development roadmap.

Cheers

i have a hunch that its the same developer as crave and same pump team, 2 out of the 12 peer nodes i have saved from old logs are identical, plus ive reviewed the code, and the coding style is particularly matching.

old codebase or not, still an awsome buy, plenty of coins run old codebases.

hmm. i know whats coming next. you literally cant buy any.

seems like a bit of pro fud there

Thanks for the baseless slur, my post contains nothing other than facts.

I gave a summary, I've posted full details of the analysis technique elsewhere, I'll include it here in case anyone wants to verify for themselves (the example references a different coin, Achilles but the technique is identical)

gjhiggins, can you tell by the code in the zip if the technology he claims the coin will use actually exists?

There's no evidence of that in the contents of the zip archive. The contents are Godcoin with user-facing strings changed to read “Achilles”, with only the absolutely key parameters changed (rpcport, genesisblock, etc). The only significant functional changes to the codebase are a bigger premine and larger block rewards.

The pastebin listing that I posted contains all the differences between ZenGodcoin source code and ZenAchilles source code.

I found it notable how few differences are actually required to separate one functioning altcoin from another.

If you'd like to take a gander yourself, if only to see what I'm blithering on about, there is a technique which helps. When I put an altcoin under the microscope the first thing I do is use a little Python script I wrote to rebrand the coin as Zencoin (ZENZ). I did this with Godcoin and Achilles, giving me ZenGodcoin and ZenAchilles.

I then compare the two directories and their contents, side-by-side, using a visual diff and merge tool: http://meldmerge.org/. It gives a very clear and accessible visual presentation of differences in directory structure and between files.

What the hey, lets have some piccies ...

Here's a screenshot of ZencoinGodcoin vs ZencoinAchilles:

Meld allows me to double-click the blue-lit names to show the content side-by-side. In a moment, we'll have a look at the differences in base58.h but first I need to draw your attention to the left-and-right vertical navigation scrollers - the coloured blocks show the location of pairs of files that differ. In the directory-level presentation, one coloured block = one filepair. In the above listing, a total of eight (8!) changed files is sufficient to create a functionally distinct altcoin.

There's a similar vertical nav scroller for the file-level presentation and again, coloured bars (a single line differing in content) or coloured blocks (several contiguous lines of code differing). Not too challenging I hope but an illustration should be, er, well, illuminating ...

Here's a screenshot of the one-and-only difference between godcoin/src/base58.h and achilles/src/base58.h:

That's it.

That's the difference which shows up as a blue block in the directory-level display.

Pretty much the same goes for all but a few of the rest of the blue-lit files, e.g. here's a screenshot of the (again, one-and-only) difference between godcoin/src/net.cpp and achilles/src/net.cpp:

I re-ran diff configured to output just the minimum context (filename and line no) for clarity - these are the only differences:
http://pastebin.com/dWht3JRu

And (for eyewatering completeness) files matching the patterns below were excluded from the comparison:
Code:
$ cat notthese
*.qm
*.ts
*.png
*.jpg
*.svg
*.o
*~
*.ico
*.icns

In essence, my workflow runs as follows:
Code:
$ git clone http://github.com/foo/bazcoin.git
$ cd bazcoin
$ rm -rf .git*  # don't need it
$ ln -s bazcoin-qt.pro coin-qt.pro  # allows meld comparison
$ grep 'BTC' src/qt/bitcoinunits.cpp  # what units were actually coded?
$ grep -r BAZZA src/  # ensure no clash with source code
$ ../omm.exe BazCoin BAZZA # use XYZZY to suppress symbol replacement if it'd muck up the source code
$ cd ..
$ meld bazcoin godcoin

If you feel up to it, you can have a go yourself. We've set up a bitbucket repository that you can use:
https://bitbucket.org/minkizmates/zencoin.git

There's a small collection of zenified coins (incl godcoin and achilles) for use when comparing with fresh candidates along with the “omm.exe” Python script to create Zencoins:
https://bitbucket.org/minkizmates/zencoin/src

meld will usefully show 3 sources side-by-side, viewing recently-launched elitecoin, fusecoin and sumcoin side-by-side is quite instructive in showing how little they differ.

HTH

Cheers

Graham

Edited for sense

Drop me a PM if anyone’s interested in accessing a zenified version of hackcoin. A straightforward GH search shows the amount of influence:

https://github.com/search?p=2&q=%22Building+hackcoin%22&type=Code&utf8=%E2%9C%93

“We’ve found 299 code results”

Hackcoin may have been an opportunistic implementation but it has proved popular with altcoin devs.

Cheers

Good afternoon everyone. I hope you all are happy and full of good food.

I have good news, our website should be online in a few hours. He says he is the making final touches and tests of the applications. One thing I hope you understand is the coin is the base of this project, but there is much more to it. I hope it makes more sense when more info is released.

I have an inbox full of messages. I will reply to them in order, but may take a little while. I would like to address the FUD also, but I need to get translated better so I will not be misunderstood in what I am saying.

How is possible to make those errors?

Ignorance, inexperience, carelessness; perhaps all three (I’m a cognitive psychologist by discipline and I have an interest in cognitive error, so I can provide chapter and verse if required).

The regular expression (aka “regex”) syntax allows for searches to be confined to separable words (too greedy a match and you can end up replacing a lot more than you bargained for). In this instance the ‘m’ and ‘μ’ prefixes create distinct non-matching words which defeats this regex matching strategy.

There will be other characteristic errors, faithfully preserved by unaware devs all the way down the chain, typically where the program abstraction runs a little thin and the specificity of the “Bitcoin” brand name intrudes and defeats a simple regex approach.

One classic example of this is parseBitcoinURI in https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/master/src/qt/guiutil.cpp#L186:

Code:
bool parseBitcoinURI(QString uri, SendCoinsRecipient *out)
{
    // Convert bitcoin:// to bitcoin:
    //
    //    Cannot handle this later, because bitcoin:// will cause Qt to see the part after // as host,
    //    which will lower-case it (and thus invalidate the address).
    if(uri.startsWith("bitcoin://", Qt::CaseInsensitive))
    {
        uri.replace(0, 10, "bitcoin:");
    }
    QUrl uriInstance(uri);
    return parseBitcoinURI(uriInstance, out);
}

The above routine replaces “bitcoin://” in the URL with “bitcoin:” or “starting at 0, nuke the next 10 characters in the URL and replace them with the string ‘bitcoin:’” i.e. remove the forward slashes.

The number 10 in the call uri.replace(0, 10, "bitcoin:") is specific to the length of the specific string “bitcoin://”. If we were working with a hypothetical clone coin called “DarkBlackCoin”, the following simplistic replacement would result in correct syntax but incorrect programme semantics:

uri.replace(0, 10, "darkblackcoin:")

because:

Code:
>>> len('darkblackcoin//:')
16

To make the intended replacement, the correct invocation would have to be:

uri.replace(0, 16, "darkblackcoin:").

S’not exactly rocket surgery, as you can see.

I can’t recall where I first saw the general solution (perhaps it originated from coingen, they would have needed to get it right) but there is one that is a bit more robust in the face of regex-driven rebranding and which will better preserve the program semantics:

uri.replace(0, std::string("darkblackcoin//:").length(), "darkblackcoin:")

The darkether code is correct (https://github.com/darkether/darkether/blob/master/src/qt/guiutil.cpp#L132),

uri.replace(0, 12, "darkether:");

Code:
>>> len('darkether://')
12

I suspect that the darkether dev lucked out, benefiting from bitpop’s error (https://github.com/BitpopCoin/BitpopCoin/blob/master/src/qt/guiutil.cpp#L132):

uri.replace(0, 12, "BitpopCoin:");

Code:
>>> len('BitpopCoin://')
13

it's a common problem, the Nebuchadnezzar dev not so lucky (https://github.com/theclaymanim/thepropechy/blob/master/src/qt/guiutil.cpp#L132)

uri.replace(0, 12, "nebuchadnezzar:");

Code:
>>> len('nebuchadnezzar://')
17

Good afternoon everyone. I hope you all are happy and full of good food.

I have good news, our website should be online in a few hours. He says he is the making final touches and tests of the applications. One thing I hope you understand is the coin is the base of this project, but there is much more to it. I hope it makes more sense when more info is released.

I have an inbox full of messages. I will reply to them in order, but may take a little while. I would like to address the FUD also, but I need to get translated better so I will not be misunderstood in what I am saying.

thanks to the update. been mining since the start, quite a bit of action in bittrex irc about this coin. all looking good.

---

and cheers to the nubs who keep attempting to fud by saying its a clone of blah blah.. yep all coins are cloned somewhere. get over it

i have a hunch that its the same developer as crave and same pump team, 2 out of the 12 peer nodes i have saved from old logs are identical, plus ive reviewed the code, and the coding style is particularly matching.

old codebase or not, still an awsome buy, plenty of coins run old codebases.

hmm. i know whats coming next. you literally cant buy any.
this had to come up eventually i  hope so

I am getting help with my inbox messages right now. I speak English, but maybe not as good as you. I do not want to misunderstand something. Our web developer is in the U.S and speaks well. He will either translate my response or for smaller he will respond. Thank you, things are moving along well.

I don't usually have morals while trading, but when I do, it's about shit like this.

There are 500 coins worth investment over this piece of crap. And because 6 miners pointed their rigs to this shit for a free buck and decided to hype before dump, y'all tempted to turn in a quick buck too by trading.

Guess what, you bought into a trap. People make money out of other people's bad decisions. And you are giving a small group of people the chance to make a quick buck, while you buy into this shit.

If you are a kid, if you are a dreamer, if you really want to turn a small amount into something big, please stop the random buys or following hypes. If you see a buy tip on twitter, it's too late, they fucking want a way out.

You will lose a lot of money and make the grandpas of the scene even richer.

Be clever, and if you can't figure out how to do that, better don't do anything at all. At least you won't be on a loss.

if you're solo mining to a wallet on the same computer, use 127.0.0.1. if you're solo mining to a wallet on a different computer on your network, use something similar to 192.168.1.* (or whatever format your internal IP addresses use).

no blockexplorer? WTF?

So here is where we stand on that. We had hired a web developer for our site. I got him to reply to some of my inbox, and he got ridiculed by someone about his design. He stopped responding after that, leaving a half finish website. The same jerkboy that ran off web guy pumped and dumped DETH leaving the value real low. At the current price the amount of DETH we own is less than $5 USD, it is hard to get none to do web design at that price.
I do not have web develop skills.

I am still working on the coin. This is where I know what I am doing. But the web design and hype market wil have to be left to others, or another day. We spent 1.5 BTC on our website and if you are reading this guy, you could send us some back since site never got finish.

Where is the PoS info?

Copied from the OP:

POS:22%/Year
Minimum Stake Age: 8 Hours

Is PoS running now? or after PoW?  Coin maturity?  Like, very little info in the OP.

Is it just me, or is anyone else stressed about the number 1 wallet holding nearly half of this coin?

46% is a huge amount - and could lead to serious manipulation of the coin Sad

That did cross my mind, but I figured if Suprnova was marked up in the Richlist then exchanges would be as well.

this coin is going down...price droping

Many of these coins are launched for pumping and dumping and then gathering some profit for developers and their pumping teams .

There is not many interested in this coin mostly because of lack of info.  PoW is now over,  let's see if the Dev gives a sh*t about his coin and does anything now  Huh

If you can't recognize some random douchebag copy-pasting a coin that 'happens' to have the same name as an actual project, you deserve to lose your money. 100% worthless coin. Like, worth NOT a single dollar.

Let's do it, community take over and re-branding, what will it take??

Coding skills and or BTC, and community leaders that keep the community informed and organized such that the whole active community is involved in a meaningful way.

Reason I say coding skills, a real dev basically, is because we need to improve what we have and make therefore live up to its name.

We need someone that can offer us the ability to promote innovative features that the community can decide on.

Just to start

Why do these guys disappear? I think a lot of these coins where the dev disappears are mining rental companies. I mean the ones where it's obvious that even the dev couldn't have made shit.

You know the ones with the fast pow, and the hash gets real high, and the dev is around and promises a block explorer, then it comes, then promises yobit, and it comes, then promises roadmap, and it comes, then pow is over, and dev disappears. That's the shit I'm talking about.

Whoa, the cryptocurrency development as a whole seems to come up with better and better  names and "proof of" concepts. I've even seen proof of publishing, used within a podcast network. I'm excited about proof of bad clone as well; maybe Bitcoin can even implement it at some time?

Probably it's not a takeover. It was a good opportunity to some to buy it cheap then pump it a little bit

The price was pumped and dumped so high so probably a lot of people got "scared" from getting involved

I don't think that here was a takover. No new dev, no new posts, nothing. The price movement was just a pump aaaaand dump
