What? We are mated. We can't move into check.
No we're not (yet). Look at Qxb7+. W0W my eyes are getting really bad!

I see our opponent is stumped this move. We will almost certainly win if he cannot find the best move here!
Just kidding. I am sure he will find the best move:)

Could have been a couple of moves ago as I had posted, but I agree about resigning. Although I joined midway (it wouldn't have mattered) but really impressive play by @letsplayagame.

He is not going to make any mistakes for a stalemate. Just watch this video for a good few pointers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-UcVihtK9MComing to actual votes Resign : 3 votes (Morecoin Freeman, tifozi, swogerino)

Resign : 4 votes (Morecoin Freeman, tifozi, swogerino, boolberry) Stalemate will not be possible because we cannot obtain opposition. If the pawns were on h3 and h4 instead of g3 and g4 the position would be drawn. For example white can win by playing g7 when our king is on g8 and his king is on f6. After we play Kh7 he plays Kf7 and queens the pawn If it was an h pawn the game would result in stalemate because there is no i file for our king to escape to (a and h K+P vs K endgames are always drawn if the defending king can get in front of the pawn) Below is the position we want (king opposition and white to move) since after white plays g7+ and we play Kg8 white cannot both defend the pawn and prevent stalemate. There is no way we can force this because white will make sure it is our move (not his) if we reach this position If you study the 3 positions above hopefully you can see why opposition matters for K + (b through g) P vs K endings and why K + (a or h) P vs K is different. Conceptually this should make sense as there are less escape squares on the edge of the board. Want more proof about that a and h pawns are different? Try to win this position with white. Black will stay in the corner and move his king back and forth until stalemate:

I've been looking at this thread for a while now without participating as i consider myself as a really bad chess player.
Congratulation to everyone as it was really interesting to follow a game between players who know how to play!
