Mt Gox CEO May Face Rearrest Over $2.6 Million Customer Fund Theft

The CEO of bankrupt bitcoin exchange Mt Gox may face fresh embezzlement charges from Japanese police tomorrow, reports claim.

Mark Karpeles has been in custody for three weeks, the maximum time suspects can be detained without formal charges, following claims he manipulated volumes on the once-leading exchange prior to its collapse last February.

I am surprised the amount is that low?   I think whenever you comingle funds, it is always dangerous since people never seem to remember it is not "their" money.

I think that's because trading income from manipulation is excluded to that amount.

I hope that justice is served and that he has to pay everything back to customers or that theirs is compensation paid to thos who have lost greatly. Luckily I was not affected as I moved my coins out as soon as I started seeing delays in payments being made and things going bad. 2 to 3 weeks later more delays happened and then soon payments where stopped. Lucky I only had change in it so was not affected. I do feel the pain tho for people who lost funds in gox and  I hope that they are some how able to recover their losses if compensation is given to people who lost.  I do hope that justice is served and he gets what is deserved.
