Big drama in Napoli
Looks like no title that year and Napoli can lost Sarri
Still nine points to win or lost
I  see both Hamsik and Martens are tired

Russian media claim Roberto Mancini is one step away from heading Italy National Team. They make references to Football Italia and Gazzetta dello Sport and are sure it will happen until 20 May.

At first, I had a negative reaction to the news. But right now I think it's not so bad choice as it can seem. Surely, he didn't manage to reach impressive results in his last clubs Inter and Zenit, but from my point of view, there are plenty reasons, which can be very important in the issue of estimating this period of his work and his prospects in the National Team.

1) Both Zenit and Inter survive a very strange period with problems between owners and club administration, so these atmosphere doesn't suit to be focused on the job enough.

2) Russian media often write he leaves St.Petersburg to spend time in Italy. There are also some indirect facts, which hint he is unhappy in Zenit and doesn't do his best there. Working in national teams needs much less time and allows to live wherever you want without being connected to a regime of regular training and travels. Maybe, it suits him much better with the way of life he prefers to lead.

3) He perfectly knows many Italian players and their abilities. He is maybe the only coach, who managed to stay in good relationships with Mario Balotelli, who plays very well in Nice right now. I don't believe he can be such stubborn as Gian Piero Ventura was - there is very low probability he will use Insigne as a midfielder or something like this  Grin
Moreover, I read that other candidates are Marco Giampaolo from Sampdoria and Luigi Di Biagio, current caretaker. With all respect to both of them, Roberto has much more chances to become a person, who will be highly respected by all players being for them a coach, a teacher, and a leader and at the same time.

4) Maybe the most important reason - as far as I understand, he has dreamt about it for a long time. To say honestly, I have never considered him as a top-level coach. But no doubt, he is a skillful specialist, and having the biggest motivation in his career he should definitely work as hard as he can. Maybe it's exactly the thing he lacked last years.

What do you think about it?

Juventus still has to play vs Roma (probably the toughest match) but even if they lose that match, they'll still have a 1 point lead, I think the fight for the scudetto is over, Napoli put up a good fight, though...their fans should be proud.

Unfortunately no chance for Napoli there. If anything is evident is that Napoli won't be allowed to become champions. One or two situations will be enough to decide a victor if it comes to that.

Big names are being involve into a move to A.C. Milan on the next summer transfer window. Players like Andrea Belotti, Nabil Fekir, and Alvaro Morata are being link into a move to A.C. Milan all I can say is that it is possible. But I think they have bigger things to handle outside of bringing in new players. Issues with their the owner's debt as well as the future of their ownership is in place, before we the fans can talk about who will be signing next we must know who will be our owner for the next season. Not to mention they still have a settlement agreement with regards to FIFA financial fair play which is still an ongoing investigation. As a long time supporter I am really missing the action of the team in the Champion's League.

Yep, it is very difficult for napoli to accept this kind of circumstance that is only a few steps to the champion and must just disappear. I already know juventus can stay above the standings to become champion.

Must be tough being a Napoli fan, from absolute joy and euphoria thanks to the victory last weekend, to dissapoinment and sadness this weekend...

And good victory for Lazio against Torino, they're now 4 points above Inter (5th in the league table),

juventus is easy win in italian serie A league
because in last match liverpool lost from fiorentina and juventus win from inter
this now defeat 4 point, although juventus must meet roma, if lost still above from napoli and last 2 match juventus can easy win

One more step Juventus almost succeeded in defending the Serie A title, they only have to win in this weekend's game to lock the Serie A title this season.

Caglari defeated Sampdoria in the away game last week. Rome will play for the first. Caglari does not give any hope with their performance and their points. Rome will not make mistakes in this game.

After the 2-2 draw vs Torino, Napoli practically gave the title to Juve. Pepe Reina's mistake was so amateurish that I'm surprised that AC Milan is interested in the spaniard GK.
Great team, good manager, great players, but small team mentality, you can't just lose against Fiorentina and draw vs Torino right after winning against Juven in their stadium...where's the spirit, Napoli?

Congrats to Juventus for becoming (not oficially, but almost) the 17/18 Serie A champions.

Another week and the same story Juve gets closer and is almost the champions, Napoli repeating their same old mistakes, it's sad they should have done better. Juventus after being a goal down nicely came back to secure a win and become unofficial title champions. Napoli have no one but themselves to blame for their mess.

I like what Sarri tries to do, but Napoli lost the title themselves. Right now it's would be ridiculous to complain about referees' decisions. They eliminated from CL, then from the National Cup in January, then from the Europa League in the round of 32 and even in such consequences they didn't manage to grab the Scudetto. Juve's performance on the home game vs them was awful, but the distance shows the gap between Bianconeri and others in Italy is still significant.

I think is time for Sarri to leave the team (maybe next year). It's always the same story with Napoli: fight for the scudetto until December and then let Juventus take the title, in the Champions League people expect to see Napoli reaching crucial stages because of how good they play but they always end up KO'd. If Napoli wants to get rid of the underdog tag then something's gotta change, or else they're gonna end up with another Wenger. It must be frustrating for the fans to always end up in 2nd place knowing that the team has much more potential :/

he sad that if director is not happy with his work he should fire him but for the time being I think Napoli do not have any better option then Sarri he went neck on neck with Juventus the whole season that is an achievement to keep the team fighting for the title until the end. But if he was sacked there is a lot of teams could be looking for his services in Italy like Milan or in England like Arsenal or Chelsea.
As for the match will be held between Inter and Lazio in the last round of the league, will be crazy in terms of enthusiasm, and crazy in terms of importance.Future stars a project future, and important financial decisions. will be resolved 90 minutes. Whoever climbs to the championsleague ticket will smile and whoever fails, will certainly suffer from financial and administrative pressures.

Sacking him will not achieve anything because the next manager would have to start all over again. They should rather give him funds to compete very effectively in Italy and in Europe as well. He should get better players and I believe it would be pivotal if they want to win the Scudetto next season.

@joebrook, @tomahawk9, I agree with you. He definitely needs better players or at least a longer bench to successfully implement everything he wants. De Laurentiis is an experienced manager and I believe he understands it, but I've heard he loves to use quite specific methods of holding people in his team, so I suppose not everything depends on Sarri's intentions)

As to me, I would like to see him in a rich big club like PSG or MU. I've read rumors about Chelsea, but I don't think Abramovich can provide him enough resources to fulfill his ideas

Gone are the days when Abramovich was eager to bankroll the purchase of the players that his managers wanted but now he is all about the club financing the purchase of players by their own means rather than him doing it.

You talk about funds to get better players but Napoli isn't exactly a club with a lot of resources (money). I think their revenue is lower than West Ham and Southampton from the EPL (teams that don't even play in the Champions League), meaning that Napoli doesn't have the budget of the big clubs in Italy (Juventus, Milan, Inter, Roma) so they can't just go and buy several top players to build a competitive squad.

Would Abramovich want another italian manager? hmm, I don't think so.

It seems that Juventus are going to achieve the Italian double this season after they trashed AC Milan today beating them by 4-0 with all the goals coming in the 2nd Half. I thought AC Milan had a chance since they were able to hold them for the first half of the game but i was indeed severely mistaken.
