I don't think you will ever need to resell your RM1000. It will olways be usefull for mining. I have 3 of them and a RM650. At the moment running 5 S5's
When my S7 is coming i will use the 1000 and the 650 for it. And 2 RM100 to run 3 S5's

Thank for the info. Didn't kwon you had 110v and 220v in the usa

Depends on wiring and breakers.  I have 120 and 240 and I am in US.   So it just varies.  But I agree keep the PSU's you will love it later on if you buy a miner and already have PSU's.  This has been my feelings from beginning and it's nice to have extra PSU's.

Also anyone notice if people waited till right now they paid less BTC - Price:    1823 USD   ( 7.604 BTC ) .   I hope bitcoin goes up and they do not jack prices guess we will see.

I ordered 4 today at 1823 USD   ( 7.569 BTC ) each.  I was pleasantly surprised that the USD price wasn't higher...

whats your electric rate if you don't mind telling us?  My rate is fixed year round 13c kwh .....so the boat don't float Smiley

(also 2 titan(s) in basement not yet to doorstop status that is 2500 watts ...so looking at this beast I shudder of the vision on my 100 amp service melting ) Smiley

but really at 13c kwh home mining is dead .......alas Smiley and I think? this beast only has a 90 day warranty? if so ....with heat/power etc I wonder if that is warranty is robust enough of only 90 days?
(then again KNC has a 1 year warranty but basically have closed shop so maybe don't matter much...if you can't get help ) Smiley

I am trying to figure out if the new 3.9-4.9c 6 mo residential rate in my area is real and not a gimmick and if yes, how to get out of my current 10c rate with still two-three months to go. i will probably have to endure as it costs $150 to cancel.
What are is that and can I move there?

planet Houston; you are invited (we get ~100K newcomers/year)
3.9c for 1kwh, 4.9c for 2kwh, 6c for more than 2kwh, 6mo from GEXA

What's the 25% tax for??

Import taxes is 20% (at custom office) and around 5% for handling fee, spacing cost etc... Import taxes can be reduced if I have import right (usually for enterprise), but for individual import it goes for 20%.

Did bought a ~$400 antminer S5 months ago. With shipment $40+ , tax $100 and PSU bought at local $50 so total almost $600. At that time I get around $60-70 after electricity so without DIFF inc I can ROI for 9 months and hoping I can ROI in 12 months. But in REALITY right now I only got a mere $30 after electricity and you can guess how much I can get after all S7 online around the world.

Actually for ROI I can sells S5 in my country for more than $500, but how could I do that ? Especially for my long-term customers, they are good people and juicy. Yes they so juicy, and I dont want bad people suck on them.

Again I can says antminer S7 is the BEST product right now and so bitmain services. Its just to expensive for home miner. I wish they create under $500 products...

***All my calculated with $0.1 per kwh and I know some of you have more than $0.15 per kwh, and its sucks

Not in the USA.

Yup, in the Northeast, I pay $0.148 per KwH, but my colo is at $0.10KwH and I have free power available also at a few places if it's not annoyingly loud.

Sad part is, 50% of the price of electricity is all BS fees and taxes. UGH

Free elec, thats looks nice. Did you try to underclock too so less heat and less loud ? I "use" friends in dorm to put some of my S5s (since its elect-free), and I give them half of elect prices, so I give them $20 for every S5 put in there. With this they wont complain of the noises Cheesy

I can't imagine them doing this.   I did not mine in dorms or student housing.  Just was not worth it to me.   You have limited electricity so can't put in enough to make a lot and then you have a noise when your doing homework or have people over.  Just not worth it.

I was always lucky though and had another to mine though.

Because in my country a $20 worth 20 times meals with rice chicken and ice tea. And for 5x S5s basically means a person can eat for a month, 3 times a day. For students in colleges who still supported by their family, they really love antminer. Thats how bitcoin changing "our" world Grin

Not sure about your and my idea of 'quietness' is, but even with fan changes and downclocking to sub 1TH, my S5's were still too loud and annoying to use in my office or anywhere near people. LOL.

Hopefully these new chips run cooler so they don't need a jet engine to fracking cool them off.
My SP20's at the same speeds were 1/2 as loud as my S5's..

LOL
I would like to try SP but already sent my fortune to bitmain. SP20 half loud of S5, but how about its heat ? If its cooler I think I can put it on my office..

SP20s tolerate heat a bit better than S5s, in my experience with a limited data set, but mostly 'cause they are a TON more configurable.
They're quieter, but not a LOT quieter if you are pushing them anywhere near their full hashrate.
They ARE a lot quieter if you undervolt them some, can still get 1.3-1.4 GH with a fairly low noise level and close to S5 efficiency in a cool room.

My "summer" rate here (mid-June to mid-Sep) exceeds 15 cents/KWH during the day easily, due to ToD rate adjustment, the OVERALL is about 14.2 but that's only WITH ToD overall adjustment, without ToD it WOULD be a hair over 15 I believe - this is in Iowa with Alliant's ripoff "tons of extra fees" rate BS. Our rates where I live have gone UP at least 3 cents/KWH in the last 5 years due to Alliant adding way too many surcharges with almost NO reduction in the base rate to compensate.
The rest of the year isn't so bad for those that use a lotta electric - first 1200ish KWH are sorta pricy, but after that it's around 6.7 cents/KWH for the "anything over" third residential tier.

Quote

3.9c for 1kwh, 4.9c for 2kwh, 6c for more than 2kwh, 6mo from GEXA

and after the 6 month "teaser" what does it go to?

I still have 2 S7 coupons available at 0.1 Bitcoin each. I don't live on this board, so don't expect "instant" response to mails, but I WILL get back to you.

I'm no longer legendary just in my own mind!

it's not a teaser, just 6 mo contract...after 6 mo you get a different contract..this is how it works here, although i usually get a 12 mo contract.

I have to disappoint you all, S7 is full of chips and cooling elements in ,what is a lethal combination.

It is hot air tornado!!.  Much worst than S5.
Unfortunately inside S7 is so overcrowded with chip and cooling elements ..the method with other quieter fan does not help.

I remind mistake for one destroyed and burned part of my FEW S5!!!. fell internet or pool and miner was ordered from does not count and so reduce the fan speed to a minimum.
But the driver software what had Stop of counting in the chips, NOOT stopped counting in  the chips and they counted on, so one part of S5 is the burnt... Lips sealed  i have pictures in S5 thread
That  error but affected thousands of people. bitmain  still did not give a new firmware for s5 and i cant flash my s5 for some error

So you GIVE great care to ensure that such same error does not affect your expensive  S7 $ 2,000.

Actually, I received a replacement hash board for my S5 recently which has the many-small heat sinks, one attached to each asic chip, and it works great, and runs a LOT cooler than the old-style cooling system, where all the chips on the board have thermal paste on top of them, and they are all in contact with one large heat sink.

So I'm sure the S7 (and S5+) need far less fan power to keep them cool, which is why they can be packaged so much more densely.

You do not have the right twice.
1. many-small heat sinks are attached not to S5 chip . And You still need the large heat sink and thermal paste for cooling chip side of hashboard.

2. S5+ need more fan power to keep them cool as S5. Almost two times more.  The same tornado also be S7.

Thanks man, thats help me alot.
But seeing your elect up to $0.15 per kwh, how long S5 give you ROI from pure mining (not selling the miner) ?
