Texas: Guess the Race of the Guy Who Just Shot a Cop in the Back for No Reason!

ABC News:

A sheriff’s deputy was shot and killed Friday as he was filling up his patrol car at a gas station near Houston.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office identified the deputy as 10-year veteran Darren Goforth. He was pumping gas into his patrol car when a man approached him from behind and shot him several times, said Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Thomas Gilliand.

Goforth, 47, died at the gas station, where he had stopped after responding to an earlier car crash, said Gilliand.

“I’ve been in law enforcement 45 years,” said Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman, according to ABC station KTRK-TV. “I don’t recall another incident this cold blooded and cowardly.”

The Sheriff’s office said overnight a suspect was arrested but later clarified and said a person of interest was taken in for questioning. No motive has been given for the shooting.

Indeed. Following the Virginia shooting a couple of days ago (where the two journalists were killed), and the release of the shooter's manifesto (which basically calls for a race war), white supremacist racist groups (the Northwest Front, the League of the South, the Council of Conservative Citizens) have put out statements claiming they are getting "prepared" for what they see as the coming wave of black-on-white crime - this might get worse before it gets any better.

The racial tension is being perpetuated by the uninformed public, which really does not help.
Similar to the tensions between those of Asian origin (Pakistan, India) between native Englishmen over here in the UK, it seems that whenever someone of the majority does anything negative towards the minority the race card is always pulled before anyone really looks at both sides of the story. In order to have all of this calm down, I believe that the stupid racial posts that you see on sites such as Facebook and Twitter must be stopped, as they seem to trick the people seeing them into thinking 'its because he was black', when in reality that is not the case whatsoever. The OP is also doing this, though he is too close minded to see it.

Although, in general, the little debate that does happen on such posts (not counting those that happen here) is always silenced by those agreeing with the original, incorrect post. While you have a good point, a lot of the discussion going on the posts is the general public agreeing with the OP as they do not know any better.

While some sources are definitely better for discussion, I don't believe that some post by a 20 year old on Facebook calling the race card because 'he is my brother' does not do anything but perpetuate negativity and create tension between the majority and minority.

Just out of curiosity, do you people that bring up race when it comes to crimes also support 'gun freedom' in a sense that there shouldn't be any background checks of any kind when it comes to purchasing guns and ammunition legally? I find it quite contradictory that some people defend gun rights while they complain about gun crimes at the same time.

In almost all the cases with gun crimes, illegal weapons (obtained without proper licenses) were used. Even if there were strict background checks, these crimes would have gone ahead. And if the Democrat gun control was in place, such incidents would have multiplied many fold, as the availability of illegal firearms normally increase with increasing gun control.

The Texas sheriff's deputy who was killed at a gas station was shot 15 times by a gunman who unloaded his entire clip, a prosecutor said Monday as the suspect appeared in court for the first time.

A judge found probable cause to hold the suspect, Shannon Miles, for capital murder in the killing of Deputy Darren Goforth in Houston. Miles, 30, wore a yellow jump suit and shackles. He did not enter a plea.

Goforth had just finished filling up his cruiser on Friday night when he was shot in the back of the head. The gunman then stood over him and kept firing, said Devon Anderson, the Harris County district attorney.

"He unloaded the entire weapon into Deputy Goforth," she said — a 14-bullet clip, plus one that was already in the chamber.
