I dont understand how sending it as a gift wont stop a chargeback,

I sent PP as a gift and got screwed over (10 bucks big deal), when I went to do chargeback it wouldnt even let me.

Big red letters, cannot chargeback since payments was not for goods or services.

People keep saying if you do gift chargebacks can still happen easily.

I understand maybe if they pay with credit card but what if it is paypal fund or ACH payment?

Anything transaction can be charged back if proven fraud in court.

If you purchase from PayPal, and send it as "Friends & Family", if you pay with your account balance, the other person is unable to be chargeback'ed and is completely safe. However, if you purchase through "Friends & Family" with a credit or debit card, you can always call your bank or credit company to file a complaint, and PayPal is forced to cooperate with your requests as you purchased an item using their payment processor, making them liable.

Paypal's charge-back is actually invented to protect the buyers from possible scams. But buyers now a days misusing it to gain free usage of products by claiming refund within 41 days. But bitcoin is protected against charge-backs so all the transactions are final.

That is only true when you don't run an official business that is forced by law to refund buyers when they, let's say, don't want their product anymore within 14 days. Though bitcoin has the advantage that it is harder to get scammed. With chargebacks of course. It's actually pretty much easier to scam someone the normal way because no chargeback exists.

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.

Yes, paypal might have started with good intention to help online buyers but scammers are misusing it by exploiting their policy loophole. Any way now days it is very scary to accept paypal payments from any body. Only one time some one brought from me guide on how to rank videos and he charged back after 4 months just for $5 so after that I stopped using paypal to accept any payments.

Gift (Family and Friends) Payments ensure that the user cannot file a complaint to Paypal saying they did not receive anything, since it was sent by you to "family or friends". Gift Payments are not covered by the Paypal Buyer Protection which means Buyers cannot chargeback payments made to you.

That's wrong. Even if you send money as "gift" when you dispute it Paypal will refund you. They changed their ToS 3-4 years ago.
If you sell Bitcoin with Paypal, buyer can open dispute and get back their money. You can't do anything about this chargeback.
Don't use Paypal for Bitcoin related transactions ever.

I've purchased bitcoin and doge through wesellcrypto several times.   How on earth do they protect against chargebacks?

Paypal charge back nowadays was a common tool used by scammers and I've been a victim of it even with a small amount ($2 to be exact ) Cheesy  That was the reason why I also stopped using paypal and then switched to bitcoin as a micropayment online Wink

I don't think so. IMO they just like http://www.VirWoX.com. They have high profit margin to try to mitigte the potential loss.

They mean that if the seller receives a payment and it's sent as a gift, the seller can still have the gift payment charged back if the buyer used a VPN or something similar and charges it back as an unauthorised payment. As a buyer, you need to use your own common sense here.

BA Computer Science, University of Oxford
Dissertation was about threat modelling on distributed ledgers.
