That's great news but still it would be better if you could actually use bitcoins directly and avoid the extra medium fees and expenses, it would also be better for real bitcoin adoption but I suppose baby steps do good as well.

Are there any plans to adapt this to other Countries besides the USA? Possible to copy this format and open in Canada as well, could see this doing decent maybe and a potential step towards global.

Dammit this is good news.
Step by step we see the community innovating. Is it not shops who make an effort to embrace bitcoiners, then we have innovating people who find a way to give
more and more use to bitcoin.

They sell Pound (money) in UK.

BtiAndy, instead of spending BTC on a gift card from one particular store, buy some GBP & bypass the middleman Smiley

It's great if such big online stores start accepting bitcoins with ease and it would be more fun if we also get discount on purchasing through bitcoins.

Truly its the initial move to improve their business. At present third parties will be doing this for them in return for fiat. If they find more users which might lead to continued implementation on all stores.

I can't confirm any of these. I walked into Walmart an hour ago and asked and the guy said what is Bitcoin..

Maybe that particular Walmart you went to was special or that specific person you spoke to decided to trade your Fiat for BTC to purchase what you needed to purchase at your convenience. Can you show me a receipt showing you or anyone else paid with BTC for something at a popular business/store/etc?

I suggest you back up a bit, digest the facts of the conversation, and only then make your odd pronouncements.

We're talking about gift cards here. Why would the Walmart guy need to know anything about the bitcoin (or zimbabwean zloties!) used to buy the walmart gift card he's being asked to accept?

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/21743/cardcash-adds-bitcoin-payments-gift-cards-thousands-us-retail-stores/

Quote
CardCash, an American online company that buys and sells discounted gift cards from thousands of national retailers, has begun to accept bitcoin payments. CardCash joins companies like Gyft and Fold that provide ways for Bitcoin users to interact with the massive gift card industry.

...

In September, CardCash expects to roll out its mobile app that will allow people with a bitcoin wallet to buy gift cards online instantly. “You’ll be able to walk into Wal-Mart, go shopping, go on the app while you’re in line, and buy a gift card right there on your phone,” said Bohm. “When you get to the checkout, you just show them the barcode.”

I can't wait for the day when people can load up their Starbucks app directly using bitcoins. Then people can keep their silly coffee purchases off the blockchain, regardless of whether we have > 1MB blocks or not.

Today to buy coffee using bitcoins still requires 3 steps:
1) BTC -> Starbucks card via CardCash, Gyft, etc.
2) Load app with card number. This can be really annoying for the lazy people of today as it requires typing in over a dozen number into their phones.
3) Use the credits.

how did u turn one step into 3

People like you are noobs at new tech. No way you can offer a protip.
If you are old enough, I knew you when the internet started, when email started, when the web started, and even when cell phones appeared. You were there bashing it all as hard as you could. Smiley

I know it just makes you more interested in posting, but i can't resist letting you know that you're as annoying as hell.

2. buy gift card with BTC, to spend it @ stores which accept USD
3. ? ? ?
4. PROFIT!!

What's wrong with you brah? Cheesy
