The wikipedia article says its completely uninhabited has fresh water, quite a bit of land mass, feral pigs. Wikipedia also says "Area Outside Territorial Authority" but the nearest sovereign is notoriously friendly to markets.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auckland_Islands

what do you think gents? it looks like the perfect place to form a new country.

If one can not confer upon another a right which he does not himself first possess, by what means does the state derive the right to engage in behaviors from which the public is prohibited?
The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

brrrrrrrr

This is not some pseudoeconomic post-modern Libertarian cult, it's an un-led, crowd-sourced mega startup organized around mutual self-interest where problems, whether of the theoretical or purely practical variety, are treated as temporary and, ultimately, solvable.
Censorship of e-gold was easy. Censorship of Bitcoin will be… entertaining.

We could even set up an exchange there: https://www.firstnationalib.com/

we would have to survive by selling capitalism. its not like we would be producing massive amounts agriculture or minerals.

The main economy could be arbitriaging virtual currency.  Maybe we should bring this over to r/xnation .

You can get similar land in southern Chile for very cheap.  It's difficult to make it work.  There's a reason this is uninhabited.

a capitalist society could easily adapt to rising oceans.

Any idea how much an island was sold for? we could potentially use a trusted member in the libertarian community to "kick-start" the project (basically he could take pledges instead of actual funds, and only if the amount of money necessarily to purchase the island was pledged in total would anyone be charged)

I vote doug casey as he has some experience in this relatively obscure field.

According to Wikipedia:
Auckland Islands
Highest point   Mount Dick

Good luck buying them from New Zealand. If the island's government will not join secret freemason and zionist union for world domination, they will be declared as axis of evil and invaded by USA to fight terrorism. And Mount Dick will be like Mount Suribachi in Iwo Jima.

I have to admit, Mt. Dick does sound like a good name for a Bitcoin exchange.
