The Bitcoin Music Directory is a listing of musicians accepting bitcoin donations.

If you would like to discuss ideas surrounding this project, there is a forum here

The Bitcoin Music Directory is a listing of musicians accepting bitcoin donations.

Bitcoin is a great way for BitTorrent users to make an anonymous donation to their favorite artists.

The bitcoin addresses for all of the artists listed in the directory have been validated by their BitcoinID Card.

If you are an artist or act as representation for an artist and you would like to be listed in the directory, please complete the following steps:
  • Acquire a BitcoinID by following the sign-up instructions at http://BitcoinID.com
  • Complete the new artist application form by clicking the Add Artist tab on the Bitcoin Music Directory site

Looking for volunteers to help with graphics design, forum moderation, and assistance vetting artist submissions.  EVERYONE can help by getting their favorite musicians setup to accept bitcoin!!!

The problem with donations to artist`s , - donators want not to be anonymous . They do not donate pot smoking legalization, they donate artists. You should  upgrade that site in that way : Artists and anybody, can see who donate them, unless that "whoo"  choose the other way.
Let donators  use some Gmail or facebook  authorization, if donator want to do it in that way.

EDIT: That is realized, as i can see,  so my previous arguments is just blah-blah.
Nice project , find new name for my self - Carina Round. Not a Nina Hagen, but steal - good.

Good point Dobrodav.

Unfortunately, the recipient of a bitcoin donation has no way of knowing exactly where the donation came from.  The best we can do in this case is to contact the artist to let them know that someone is claiming responsibility for a donation made on a particular date, for a particular amount.  Soon, donors will be able to send such a message from the BitcoinID Card.

The idea behind this project is to donate to the artist.  I think it would be difficult to find a computer without some for of "illegally downloaded" content on it.  Record labels and organizations attempting to protect copyrights are failing musicians.  I trust that consumers will fairly compensate artists if they can do so on their own terms.

The Internet provides the means to put artist in direct contact with their fans.  BitTorrent provides the means of distribution.  Bitcoin provides a perfect means for fans to contribute DIRECTLY to artists' livelihood.

Traditional record labels have little to offer artists in 2011.  Labels are no longer needed for marketing or distribution.  While we're at it, we can cut MasterCard and Visa out of the deal as well.

Oh and iTunes?  Take a look at this: http://artists-first.net/Artists%20First%20Comparison%20Chart.pdf

As a music fan, is this a paradigm that you want to support?

P.S.  Write an email to Carina Round suggesting that she start accepting bitcoin donations!  Smiley
