Yep.

Also, there's still a lot of demand for Compacs and I won't have anything better for a while so I'm working with some resellers to put together another batch. No direct sales from me (sorry, but it is fairly time-consuming) but the regular websites should have stock. Nothing's for sure yet, but it's pretty likely.

Also, CrazyGuy should have stock available soon; this week's priority will be finishing up the tail end of Batch 2 manufacture, most of which are his. I'm pretty sure he's got Antrouter setup to handle Compacs as well, probably worth looking at his Group Buys thread.

Cool, quiet and up to 1TH pod miner, on sale now!

Hi sidehack, I've got a dead U3 would the chips be any good for a USB stick? I'd like one but obviously can't get them anymore. Would it be able to be run from a standard hub (non powered) through an Antrouter?

Thanks.

The U3 uses the BM1382 chip (same as S3)

The compac stick uses BM1384(same as S5)

Worth mentioning as I had the same idea when 2 of my U3 died :p

It actually depends; some U3s run the BM1384 chips, but those are the ones that run at 0.8w/gh, the ones with slightly lower power consumption and look like a big mac with holes in it.

I've never seen one.

Also, 0.8 is a terrible efficiency for BM1384 device, even considering a fan and buck losses. I'd expect more like 0.65 at the worse, and that's assuming they're running the chips at 400MHz - which would make about a 90GH U3.

Source?
it looks like you are describing the batch 1? the BM1382s would run at the 0.8W/GH and 60/68GH/s though..

Well my U3 has 1382 chips in it as its now apart to see if I can see anything wrong. Ill re-do the thermal goo and fire it up again on the off chance the old crusty paste had anything to do with it. If not then its going for spares or repairs on ebay.

All of the U3s used the same chip, and none of them used BM1384.  Version 1 and Version 2 of the U3 were identical except for the external case and both used BM1382.

I had been mining away with 4 Compacs for about 9 months and every 3-4 days one of them would Zombie out and I would have to unplug it and replug it in, restart cgminer, and then all was well again. Recently I upgraded that computer with a new motherboard, CPU, and RAM (same Windows install) and now I cannot got 6 hours without one or sometimes all of the Compacs going Zombie. Would you all suggest reinstalling a driver or something else to resolve the issue? Thanks.

Make sure it's not a current limitation where the USB port senses an overdraw and cuts power. Crank the frequency down and see if they'll run longer on the new setup.

I've had Compacs running in our test setup (Eyeboot powered hub, Debian 7, cgminer-gekko) for weeks continuous without a single dropout.

Hi guys,

Ive received a gekko stick as a little bonus when I bought a U3 from ebay. Ive got the two U3's working fine on cgminer 4.9.2, but I cant get it to see the gekko. THey are all connectd to a powered usb hub.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

I have entered no additional settings in the bat file, just my pool and user info.

Has anyone got an example of a full line of info for the bat code that I can copy and change the relevant info?

Thanks in advance.

Did you zadig the gekko stick?  I think cgminer492 should see it as a U3, but you can also d/l the cgminer-gekko version that was compiled with compac support, or compile your own.  See previous posts in this thread.

When I had a similar problem as you, playing with different settings of clock speed and voltage ended up solving it.

you can't get the U3 and gekko on the same cgminer

cgminer gekko (cf 1st post) has antminer disabled.

if you want both you need to use BFGminer 5.4.1
