Any idea how far you have to lead a drone?

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

The cool part is when we get the hacks from Iran and so we can take over the controls. Free RC planes for everyone, until you get arrested or removed for existence by a military grade drone. Oops and they are coming no matter what.
It's a relatively simple matter to weaponize and add a camera to an off-the-shelf RC plane. Build your own drone-defense drone.

Any idea how far you have to lead a drone? The depends on a huge number of factors, mainly the altitude, speed, and what type of weapon you are using. If using a long-range duck hunting shotgun with a severe choke, the lead distance would be much greater than if using a fast-moving 5.56 round from an AR. Here are some guys practicing drone take-down on a ranch in Texas... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGgEFOD8JloFor the little drones that will sniff for chemicals around your windows, the weapon would need to be something like a fire extinguisher that would not impact your neighbors' houses.

considering the falling cost of hardware
I see what you did there... I can't think of anything more fun than firing some old radio equipment and knocking drones out of the sky.

All drones will be equipped with ...the technology to sniff out certain chemicals from thousands of feet above our heads. Cool beans! This will allow police to locate people smoking marijuana and put them in the penitentiary for rehabilitation and penance. Excessive amounts of carbon dioxide from BBQ grills could also be located and shut down. BAR B QUES WILL BE 50x AWESOMER NOW.

Automated face recognition would be an application they'll want to have in the air, Like the drone spiders in the Tom Cruise Si-Fy.

Ever do anything perfectly legal that you wouldn't want on the front page of your local newspaper?

Because so many things are unconstitutionally made illegal (mala prohibita) that if we were prosecuted for every "crime" we committed, we'd spend the rest of our lives in prison or be fined into bankruptcy, have every single asset seized, and die homeless, naked, on the street.

Between 3d printing and the technology and skills available to the average consumer, it might be interesting to see AI piloted "drone killers" make an appearance. Then the drones will evolve to fight back and before you know it, it's Skynet all over again
