 I remember that time,we have  knew nothing about it,first news have arrived oneweek after

Propaganda was saying that there was any dangeur.no toxic radiotion.No truth somedogs heve died after drinking water on the streets,a guy who was investigating that collected many proofs of toxic radiations has died in strange way.Militiasaid it wasaccident but he  was pushed from high building and died becouse of that.Thattime he haswith him sutcase  full of proofs about toxic radiation collected all over the country.Sutcase disappear

Shouldn't the correct spelling be Chornobyl? Just saying . . . Chernobyl is the Russian sounding spelling, not acceptable now, or ever.

It is interesting and dramatic story. These woman lives in danger without thinking.
But love for home still make them carry their lives in that place.

It's not just the 80 years+ babushkas. There are a few middle aged individuals and a handful of younger people living in the exclusion zone.

On 25 August 1999, a perfectly healthy child was born in the exclusion zone, to 46-year old Lydia Sovenko and her husband Mikhail Bedernikov. The kid (Maria Sovenko) lived in the exclusion zone for 7 years, before moving to Kiev. Till now, Maria Sovenko remains in good health.
