I use My Wallet (Blockchain.info) to keep track of my brain wallet, but I don't store the keys there.
Right now, when I want to spend, I import the key, then delete it when I'm done. I need to find a way to spend that doesn't expose me to the possibility that the key will be stolen by someone hacking blockchain and poisoning the javascript.

I'm moving to a system where I keep large amounts on offline wallets in a safe, medium amounts in bitcoin-qt for relatively easy access, and small amounts I don't care about in My Wallet @ blockchain.

Savings wallet: Electrum (I love this client!) If servers were a little more stable and a little less buggy this would be a killer wallet. As it is it's a bit frustrating to use but still better than most. |

I prefer to use command line bitcoind running in daemon mode (which isn't currently a choice, though obviously Bitcoin-Qt is closest to that), since for me it is much more conducive to executing batches of transactions generated as a script from another machine. Admittedly I have only briefly played with other clients.
For anything in the flesh that requires a GUI, and the client I recommend to most casual would-be users, is BlockChain.info. I recommend BlockChain.info only for initiating transactions and not as a long-term wallet, and I recommend self-printed paper wallets for Bitcoin storage (which means doing your transaction and then immediately taking back your change onto another paper wallet).

Companies claiming they got hacked and lost your coins sounds like fraud so perfect it could be called fashionable. I never believe them. If I ever experience the misfortune of a real intrusion, I declare I have been honest about the way I have managed the keys in Casascius Coins. I maintain no ability to recover or reproduce the keys, not even under limitless duress or total intrusion. Remember that trusting strangers with your coins without any recourse is, as a matter of principle, not a best practice. Don't keep coins online. Use paper or hardware wallets instead.
