Running windows XP sp3, have most recent drivers from amd installed, have tried sdks 2.1,2.2,2.4,2.6 all with no success of the 5970 appearing in guiminer.

Got a prompt from 2.1 and 2.2 where it told me that I didnt have the right drivers for opencl and that only the cpu would get opencl. Didn't get the prompt with newer versions.

What am I doing wrong? I've clean installed all of these things and yet my 5970 isn't showing up?

GPU-Z picks up the card but doesn't show opencl checked, and GPU Caps shows only my CPU as the only opencl device.

I've hit a wall and now I really have no clue what to do except shell out more cash for windows 7. I've seen people get this working on XP and I don't want to give up yet.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Try updating your Ati drivers

if that doesnt work

Try using GUIMiner it does all the command line arguments for you to get openCL running

if that don't work

Try using it from Linux, either a boot partition, or a USB Memory Stick

It takes 5mins to make a LinuxCoin stick.

Fix everything by dumping windows entirely and using BAMT!

Linux pulls through with the win! Getting more hash and better results to!
