Exactly this. It seems to me that people keep forgetting that for the price of Bitcoin to stay stable, today somebody needs to buy 3,600 new coins. That's around $800,000 of the new money that gets poured into Bitcoin daily. That's quite a lot of money if you are asking me.

Wildly unfounded assumption unless you know (which you obviously don't) that all these newly minted coins are sold (exchanged for fiat) shortly after that have been mined...

And where did you get this number (3,600)? A new block is not found every 10 minutes (even on average)

The 3600 is the avarage based on 10 minute blocks. I practice, the avarage is even faster (due to increasing difficulty, until readjustment). 3600 is a safe estimate of daily new bitcoins mined.

Ofcourse not even close to that amount will hit the market, but also  previously mined coins can enter the market with these coins, boosting the number.

But you forget to take into equation the amount of coins that are being lost forever

More in the range of $300-$325. New year means new start. That's what I hope at least.

My guess is that in Jan-16, the price will still be between $200-250. By Jul-16, the price will reach about $600.

It all depends on if whales are going to give the Bitcoin price a push before the real fireworks of the halving start. If this is the case then I can see Bitcoin easily go over $300.

If nothing happens then we most likely keep sitting at the $200-$250 level for some time. That's the hard reality.

Honestly, nothing major seems to be happening anytime soon. I think the price will stay where it is now.

A long time ago I bought a house in Canada.  During the previous 12 month the average price was stable and had barely move a dollar. The sales agent told me tomorrow the price will go up $2000.

Hard for me to believe but anyway I signed the papers and bought the house.  One of the things that pushed me to make the purchase was that my girlfriend was at the time crying after I initially told her I don't believe the price will go up and let's wait another week.

That week I saw in the papers some mention that the house prices had moved up.  People read the papers and started to buy.  In the weeks that followed there were more and more and more reports about price going up and guess what happened ... prices went up.

A year later the same house was being sold for TWICE the price by the builder.

What's my point here.  Well if people think prices will go up then you can bet they do go up !

So what do you "think" will happen to the price of bitcoin ?

By the way I had quite a few friends at that time who wanted to buy but they put in offers after me.  Those guys had the offers rejected so weeks later they tried again and rejected.  It's been a long time but I think the friends never did end up buying.  They were just too late.

I am ready to bet that this is not true. The people can realize other things with their hopes (for example political ones) but not the price of currencies. Who american don't want that us dollar go to the sky? Who of the people in my country don't want that our currency goes 1000 times more the value of us dollar? For the first question I have no answer (maybe I can guess) but I can assure you that every single person in my country wonder the yes of the second above question. Why this desire thought by the people is not realized? You tell me.  Wink

About the prices asked by you in the above days I can tell you the exact ones only if I had the magic crystal ball. Otherwise I am shooting two values only to give you an answer. In the first date the price will go 450 us dollar one bitcoin and at the second date 1 000 us dollar one bitcoin. Hope that all the people think equally with me and in this way, in July 2016 I can have ready at least the money for the university of my two daughters.  Cheesy

Around $300-350 in my opinion. I think that many countries will face an economic crisis in 2017, like Brazil and Bitcoin will definitely benefit from this. However any day there's a chance that a new cryptocurrency/technology backed by a big company or country takes its place.

could be, but bitcoin has been here for years and it has proven to be a great way of making payments. every competing altcoin will dry out at some point.

Yes I agree, but if Apple launches the iCoin tomorrow Bitcoin is doomed. Well you get the idea, if an "official" currency is created by a powerful player and goes mainstream Bitcoin will be instantly the new Litecoin and eventually die or remain an alternative to pay for drugs...

I totally disagree. It doesn't mean that iCoin won't be popular or that it won't be more popular than Bitcoin, but it would hardly eat away at Bitcoin's share, if ever

I don't think so. Apple has its followers that are to many. Maybe from all over the world But I think that are not never more than the bitcoiners which are followers of this coin since its creations. There are 6 years that bitcoin exist. The iCoin of Apple need 6 years to arrive bitcoin.

But even without this thought, that might not be true, I don't think that the followers of Apple are more than the followers of bitcoin (which will not abandon it, I think). This is only a feeling and I have no data about this. If will happen we will see.

The price of bitcoin probably wont have changed much by then unless we get some big news. The only thing that I can see pushing the price up is the block halving which is late July I believe but on the flipside if the price doesn't rise considerably it might not be profitable for miners.

well real estate and bitcoin is completely different.
in real estate the place of it is very very impoprtant.
while in bitcoin it depends on the bitcoin users and hackers...
well anyway for me... bitcoin in 2016 will be higher than today.
but still not that high... this is only y speculation.so still goodluck to us.

Allright but it's not a matter of followers or not (this isn't a religion or twitter) it's a matter of accessibility and easyness of use. The iCoin will definitely be fool proof simple to use, no scanning barcodes, no impossible to remember addresses, refunds, etc.

It is not a religion but a passion yes. And this is not few. And the most used from all the other coins. Even from big "lions" of market like Microsoft or Dell. But I agree with you. If the new coin will be more competitive for sure will be used more. As I told in my post I don't have knowledge about the new coin.
