I guess that the price of bitcoin by the beginning of January 2016 will be somewhere around ~$270 - $280
But by the July i think that it will reach at least ~$310+ as many things will happen at the time.
There would be a big jump on that time as the block reward will be deducted by 50%, from 50BTC to 25BTC

A long time ago I bought a house in Canada.  During the previous 12 month the average price was stable and had barely move a dollar. The sales agent told me tomorrow the price will go up $2000.

Hard for me to believe but anyway I signed the papers and bought the house.  One of the things that pushed me to make the purchase was that my girlfriend was at the time crying after I initially told her I don't believe the price will go up and let's wait another week.

That week I saw in the papers some mention that the house prices had moved up.  People read the papers and started to buy.  In the weeks that followed there were more and more and more reports about price going up and guess what happened ... prices went up.

A year later the same house was being sold for TWICE the price by the builder.

What's my point here.  Well if people think prices will go up then you can bet they do go up !

So what do you "think" will happen to the price of bitcoin ?

By the way I had quite a few friends at that time who wanted to buy but they put in offers after me.  Those guys had the offers rejected so weeks later they tried again and rejected.  It's been a long time but I think the friends never did end up buying.  They were just too late.

I guess by that time the value of the coin will range from $300 to $800.
Good guess right?

I'm pretty sure we will see some price increase when the hype before halving starts.
I just hope prices will not increase too much, just to see them crash again after a while.

I think that the next year will start with a min. $350 of bitcoin price.
Maybe it is much more than now (+42$) or low expectation.
But the price should be increased time by time especially on July when it is the halving period.

I wouldn't expect the price to move much from where it is till the end of the year. Meaning, it would stay at around $300, max. $350 by the start of 2016. As already mentioned in this topic, we have the halving event next July, which would definitely affect the price of Bitcoin. I expect to see its influence already around Eastern 2016 (end of April). From there till July, there is a potential for growth. How much? Very hard to tell something precise now. A lot depends on the global economic sentiment at that very moment. We may as well see new ATH, but for now, I don't see it coming.

Hard to give exact numbers, but pretty sure they will be way over $300.

I'd say at least $2500 for june.

January is a bit more tricky, but probably between $500 and $1000.

Let me guess, i will bookmark this comment url.

On Jan 2016, btc price will be at $300

and on July 2016 BTC price will be at $350

It's like season man, July until December it's time for BTC going up, and Jan it's selling time..
(if you remember last Jan 2013)

Let me disagree. It is hard to talk about seasonals, if all what you have is five years of data. That is one. Number two is that the next year we have halving event, which tends to heavily influence the price. We are still in the area where change in the number of bitcoins available in the block is significant enough to influence the price. That is why this year behaviour won't be reflected in the next year's price action.

It's not seasonals, but we can predict btc price from btc history from 2009. It can go down in flash and can going up a bit. It's hard to remember how btc price can going down drastically from $1200 to $800. And then keep going down until today $327.

For now, btc price is too liquid. But they have a great online payment system. and that's why a lot people still hold btc.

mmm arround 350$

July 2016?

maybe x2 it, but after the halving i don't expect that this will raise up more and more, i expect that this go down a little bit to stabilize for the next year or so, btw i hope that im wrong and the price of bitcoin stay x10 of july lol

I repeat, so far we have too little historical data for bitcoin to be able to predict the price precisely in the long run. That was the meaning of my post above. That is why I believe your argument about price behaviour this year have absolutely nothing to do with what may happen in the next 12 months. And for the reasons I stated above as well, I expect quite different outcome for 2016.
What do you mean that the price is 'too liquid'?

Bad guess according to me. Both prices are already reached or are near the actual one. Hopefully must be higher. Especially after halving. I am very curious if everything will go according to the theory. If yes it will be the first sign of the big future of bitcoin. If not I cannot tell nothing. Except that can be told for sure that it will be very hard to make predictions even theoretically then.

I think during that time, bitcoin will become higher by its price than before.
Many people will be happy for it.

No one can actually predict bitcoin price. But I firmly believe that bitcoin price will go up in the future when more people come into the ecosystem. But who knows when that will happen.
